ok, so I had my daily zwave failure.... still no clue where the errors and warning are genuinely coming from.
    now tonight I get this.

It stopped responding, I stopped zwave PI, restarted it and it wouldnt start.

I restarted HS and then restarted the PI and get these errors about 2 systems connecting.

    HELP????

it continues to seem that the only way to fix my Z-wave when it "goes dumb" is to reboot the entire PC..... I do think the controller is going bad.

and of course when I have the HS restart on a regular basis.... z-wave fails on the restart. but when it fails, the reboot fixes it.

and the really weird part.... I'm not using an ethernet Z-wave, i'm using and Aeon USB.

      Seen before here : https://forums.homeseer.com/forum/ho...nterface-error

You can have and use both but read and understand this document first : https://www.vesternet.com/pages/your...z-wave-network before doing the settings in HomeSeer.

Tip : when all fails contact zwolfpack

Thanks Eman....but I don't have multiple controllers, I do not have a Z-net... I have just the one Aeon USB stick on COM2 which keeps having more and more problems.
Neither of those links help with my problem as they address having multiple controllers.

I have ordered a replacement Zstick+ and plan to get rid of the AEON stick. reboots of HS will cause the AEON to disappear, as well as it just randomly stops working.... all of which seem to resolve when I reboot the PC (which I believe forces the USB COM to re-initialize) and then she's good for a bit.
I'm really leaning on it being a bad (or slowly dying) controller

Have you thought about changing the coin cell battery in the Z-Stick? (It depend on how long you have had the Z-Stick)

If on Windows you can use this app to clean up USB connections : https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html But remove the connected devices first.
          • Make sure you have your USB drivers at hand (Else, add 1 USB device at a time and waiting for Windows to detect and install the drivers automatically)
          • You may need to clear the COM ports in the Z-wave settings as well.
          • On reconnection put the Z-Stick in another port (Not the same as previous)

In Windows Device Manager open the COM port properties. If there is a Power Management tab, ensure that "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.

The "2 systems ... " message is just a poor choice of wording; this has caused lots of confusion. This message is presented when the controller device is unresponsive. Having two competing systems being the reason for this is fairly low probability for an Ethernet controller, and downright impossible for a USB one.

y'know....actually the battery issue had not occurred to me. I will do that this weekend, thanks.

and I will try clearing out the USB and reinstalling after that. if I don't see any improvement.

              Thanks!!

I had done that USB power management checking early on in the problem. B ut since I've had the device for a few years, I will try the battery suggestion.

                Thanks agaIn.

This may not apply and could be a confusion on my behalf as there doesn't seem to be an exploded view (tech details) of the Z-Stick anywhere but the main details state that it has a built in lithium ion rechargeable 3.7 V : https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/support...les/6000242203 and here : https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/6000242202-z-stick-gen5-user-guide

hmmmm.... reading those it does not seem that the battery is replaceable. well, I still have a replacement controller coming.... that will probably be a good idea anyway as the current controller is Z-wave and the new controller is Zwave+ with all the issues I've been having... it's probably just due.

well I replaced my Aeon Labs controller with a HomeSeer SmartStick and so far it appears that all my errors have gone away. I had no need to restart the PC or Plug-In since the replacement, and when I did my weekly HS shutdown/restart the plug-in worked fine without having to reboot the entire PC.
