Why would a company pick such a poorly supported interface ???? I have a Lightify bulb that when I use the Lightify plugin turns on randomly.. Pretty poor when a plugin doesn't work with the bulbs that come from the company that makes the interface...

Have you tried using the osram lightify hub with the HS Zigbee plugin?

Notice my first statement I'm using the Lightify interface with the lightify plugin with a Lightify bulb... Only happens when I turn the plugin on !! There's several ZeeBee USB sticks that appear not to use clouds,, why pick one with a cloud that hardly supports anything ,, instead of an interface that is not cloud based that Homeseer can add the items people want most and not something that doesn't support anything anybody wants to use.. Trying to use the Lightify Bulb with HS# is useless it's for the master bedroom ,, that's what I need for WAF a light bulb waking her up randomly drunning the night... It's seems to me the Homeseer is just trying to take the easiest and laziest way out.. That's how a company ends up out of business.. I've been using Homeseer since version 1.XX and 3.anything just seems to have nothing but problems !! Let's face it without Doomotion as in HS2 Homeseer is just about useless.. Today there several programs that have motion control built into them !! That's what Home Automation is all about that data input and doing something with it and Homeseer can't even do motion control out of the box , one of the things that's wanted by anybody doing Home Automation.. Before you post back the Blade has Radar and not a knock against Blades programming skill , yet anybody who used Doomotion will tell you it was fantastic.. Small note Jim put in a couple of my suggestions even one that was custom to my system.. I didn't make the move to HS3 for sometime becaused HS2 worked so good.. Sorry I moved to HS3 ,, it's been nothing but issues any patches and it still can't even recover from a power failure without crashing it's database 7 out of 10 times.. It's real bad when 3rd party plugins work better than the plugins made by Homeseer.. Sorry of the rant , yet the database issue has been going on of years , than there's Zigbee, Zwave, X10 , should I go on.. My understanding if it was written in C++ or C one wouldn't need to run mono as a windows to linux bridge ! Having to run Mono to was HS3 in linux instead of making it run natively in linux is just a cop out !!! Real linux programs don't need Mono to run as a windows program on linux ,, should have just used Wine .. Homeseer can't even take the time to fix and or clean their forum {I don't even think they ever read it..} Go thru the forums see how many plugins are no longer supported yet there still being sold.. Even the beta section has betas that have been moved to other sections and what is there not a New Plugin Section ??? I hate to rant yet it appears Homeseer is just not stepping up to the plate as they did with HS 1.x and HS 2.x !! The motion control issue, I find it had to believe that there's not another programer that can program as great as Jim did [RIP Jim..] it should be included in HS3 , I wouldn't mind paying for it if it looked and worked as well as Jim's did...

I am kind of confused as to why you refer to it as a lightify plugin. Not trying to be critical but are you referring to the lightify app maybe? We all wish you didn't have so many problems. That said I have used the lightify hub with the HS Zigbee plugin (free) (written for Osram) and after entering the info from the app into HS Zigbee plugin HS is able to control the Osram bulbs.
I personally use the conbee stick with the jowihue plugin and that will definitely control an osram bulb. Have you considered that avenue?

"I am kind of confused as to why you refer to it as a lightify plugin" ,, I call it the lightify plugin because the HSZigBee plugin only uses the Lightify Hub only as I understand the plugin ... As I stated it's a poor choice for Homeseer and they most likely only used it because of cost or because there the only company that would let them use it.. As far as the Osram Lightify App. it appears to work fine.. I would do it via ifttt if lightify supported it {Integrating ifttt devices is a hassle onto itself, one has to make a device for each command and it appears to be only one way, so one has to to make ifttt rules to let Homeseer know the ifttt device has changed.

"That said I have used the lightify hub with the HS Zigbee plugin (free) (written for Osram) and after entering the info from the app into HS Zigbee plugin HS is able to control the Osram bulbs." Are you using the HSZigBee plugin to run Colored / White Osram bulbs ??? the plugin appears not to be able to set the white values... Also as I stated the bulb randomly lights when I enable the HSZigBee plugin...

So lets see the HSZigBee don't work as it should so I should spend another whatever a Conbee stick costs as well as purchase a $39.00 plugin to use a device that Homeseer states "WORKS" with homeseer !!!

Lastly as I stated what didn't Homeseer use the Conbee Stick instead of the Lightify Hub ??? Pretty sad when one has to purchase plugins because the company that designed the software has know idea how to make the Osram hub work with Osram devices..

This is Zigbee,, take a look at the Z wave forum which they say is there main interface ,, It's riddled with issues !! Even things they did work good at one time, X10 they no longer seen to even get that going correctly.. Instead of doing new things they should be making sure there the items they are presently pushing works correctly ,, like the HS3 program itself , zigbee , zwave , x10 should I go on !!! There quickly losing ground mostly against several free programs that just appear to work, as Homeseer did at one time... Bugzilla has more than 2000 entries I think this says something.. Funny how they locked my
Bugzilla on the database corrupting on power failure ,, did they lock it so people wouldn't find out that on power failure years {Yes years..} worth of setting up an HA system is gone,, that makes for a poor HA system , I'm not the only one that has put in a Bugzilla about the Database corruption ,,, many have been closed as fixed,, well it's not and how many Bugzillas have been put in and locked,, makes for poor customer confidence !!! Believe me if I didn't have so much money tied up with homeseer I've be long gone like others have done.. Just so you know I have a Hue hub and Hue bulbs that I was with Jon00 hue plugin for and as most of Jon's plugins it works great as it should,, if others can do it why can't Homeseer make there plugins work ??? I have a HUE hub version 2 that I would replace my version 1 HUE hub with to run the Osram bulb yet it appears from the latest info on the web that nobody is sure that the version 2 hub will work with the latest Osram Lightify bulbs.. The info seems to not know if it's the latest Bulb firmware update or the latest firmware update for the HUE hub version 2.. HUE hub version 1 doesn't even see the Lightify Bulb.. One question the the Conbee stick use a cloud and have you found many devices that will not pair with the Conbee Stick ?? It's a bummer that Homeseer can only work with my Smartthings hub using ifttt.. My next step (Before moving to OH..) will be to see if my Harmony Z wave / Zigbee addon HA hub.. I started to set up a OH HA system on a second computer over a year ago ,, yet stopped because Homeseer was going to have a Zigbee plugin , that was a mistake had I've known Homeseer was going to use a Zigbee interface that supports hardly any devices I would have gone on with the OH system.. It's so sad because my HS2 system has been running for years and it still does the times I want to happen unlike my HS3 system ,, I spend almost as much time repairing if not more the database issues as well as other issue like Zigbee , Z wave issues.. I always like setting up a device in the evening just to have it disappear overnight and have it not be there in the morning.. One also has to love the if , and , or statements that just don't work logicly unlike HS2 ,, pretty sad that one has to buy one of two 3rd party plugins to get items that are built in to the software to make the system work correctly.. Just sad..

Wow, I am not sure what to say to the rest but the conbee is not a cloud service. It uses deconz which is free to download and the jowihue plugin which by the way can control the philips hue bridge also. As far as devices there are quite a lot to choose from and they are always adding on.
Here is their list. The jowihue plugin can control a whole bunch of other devices like osram, sengled, and more.

I'm liking the sound of the Conbee.. I understand about needing the HUE hub for HUE products,, yet do the other products you mention (Other devices like osram, sengled.. ) ,do they only use the Conbee or do I need those products hubs to control there devices or does the Conbee control these devices directly ?? I'm a little confused the link appears to talk about a Restful api that works with the HUE hub ,, what's the story with that does it let me use the devices listed with the HUE hub ?? I still have devices that appear not to be supported..

I'm liking the sound of the Conbee. I understand about needing the HUE hub for HUE Devices ,, do the other companies need there own companies hubs to work or does the Conbee do that ??? I surprises me that more and more companies are pushing Zigbee on the public,, it's such a mess.. Z-wave isn't without problems, yet it's simplicity makes it so much easier to use.. I use Insteon and would use it as the only hub if they had more devices and didn't come out with so many devices that just don't work as stated or are implanted in such a mickey mouse way that they just stop making the devices and supporting them..

It brings me back to the HS3 , Lightify plugin , why would a company pick such a unsupported interface when there are several good non cloud based Zigbee usb sticks like the Conbee ??

What's sad about this whole thing is really the 3rd party plugin support , Homeseer don't require that charging 3rd parties are not required to supply Homeseer with the source code for these paid plugins so the 3rd parties can sell you there product that Homeseer gets a cut for and than the 3rd party can walk away and we the consumer get stuck with a paid plugin that isn't supported..

As you might be able to tell I'm a little pissed,, not only with Homeseer , but with myself for not continuing with development of to systems when I found out about the database crashing issue now coming on 3 years ago.. At the time OH didn't support all the devices I was using ,, now that's longer the case.. I wonder why there are some 3rd party plugins that are no longer supported ?? Where did those people go ??? I'm guessing they didn't like paying for user supported software !!

The issue I see with the Conbee is I have to have a 3rd party program running in the background to was it.. So it's not a native program made to run with Homeseer,, how long before Homeseer or the 3rd party program makes a change the stops the whole thing from working,, I have a box full of hubs that I don't use because they just don't work like they were stated.. Do you know how many hubs there are that have Bluetooth interfaces in them that the BT is turned off..

I think it's funny Homeseer locked my Bugzilla and sent me a email stating basicly that they didn't think my issue should be public,, Why's that ?? Do they not want want people to know that the database crashes,, it issues like this, that got them dumped from the top 10 HA program lists.. Just to show you how much Homeseer no longer cares , during HS2 times if I would have left posts like this or several others like this , they would have been censored ,, yet they don't even watch the forum,, it's become all about sales and money these days !! Not a good way to stay in business !! Not admitting or hiding that there issues is basically wrong and doesn't make for a trusting relationship !!!

I did order a "NEW" Conbee USB dongle.. Only $40.00us ,, I will make a nice addition to my box of Zigbee USB dongles if it doesn't work well, not sure which I have more of Zigbee hubs or Zigbee USB dongles.. Funny I have maybe 3 Z-wave USB dongles (Using one.) and and the hubs I have that do Z wave I purchased to do Zigbee ,, I think that says something.. If you haven't noticed I'm a firm believer that if you can do it right ,, why do it at all.. Let's see Z-wave was designed with Home Automation in mind ,, Zigbee was designed for industrial remote control in mind and when they couldn't get industry to by into it they decided to push it to HA , Alarm , other niche markets etc..

I'll stop complaining ,, I'm just going to set up the second computer, most likely using OH or one of the other great HA programs and move my items over to that and dump HS3 ,, I think years of ongoing issues is enough !! Should have done it a long time ago.. Locking the Bugzilla was the final straw ,, that's right if others don't know about it it's not an issue.. Right !!!! If you look thru the Bugzillas you will see that I'm not the only one that has complained about this issue (Ya, I was one of the stupid ones that didn't move on..) , most have been closed stating the issue was fixed ,, I think those people that put in the Bugzillas were smarter than me and moved on to something that works and is reliable !!

The conbee is all you need for osram, sengled and a bunch of others.

The hue bridge can be connected to the jowihue plugin along with the conbee as two separate individual controllers. The plugin will see and control them both. I use the hue bridge and the hue app so I can get firmware updates to the hue devices. In detail I use the app and let it find the hue devices and then in the jowihue plugin I tell it to search for hue devices through the hue bridge and it then lists them in the UI. You don't have to add them to the hue app if you don't want to it is just for having the ability of the app to update their firmware if needed.

Thanks, I'm going to try the Conbee ,, I'm hoping it works better than the Lightify option,, if it does than I will only have the database corruption problem which Homeseer can't fix or doesn't care to fix.. It stinks but I am going to do dual systems one running one the broken HS3 and the other most likely running OH 2.3 ,, It appear to have a harder learning curve than HS3 yet I read about users leaving Homeseer as well as others HA programs using OH and never looking back.. I haven't seen that said about Homeseer for many years,, it appears we people learn about the 3rd party plugins (Like John's HUE , Marks insteon , Jon plugins and many others) ,, they seem to go else were.. The bummer is HS2 was so good and reliable and HS3 has just been such a headache .. Thanks for all your input..

Your welcome. With the conbee and I assume the jowihue plugin you will need at least one light bulb, plug, etc. in the mix of devices especially if you have all battery devices. Light bulbs and some other non battery devices (plugs) are considered routers and battery devices are considered End Devices. In deconz you will see the devices show up with a yellow stripe on the left, those are routers, and a grey stripe, those are end devices. You will see what I mean it is very obvious. Have fun with this because it is very easy to set up and maintain and it works painlessly.

I asked this before, got a lot of views, but no reply: Do you get two devices for each bulb: 1) for brightness: and 2) for color temperature?

With the latest version of the Zigbee plugin, I get only 1 device created and that is for brightness. No device is created for color temperature. With the earlier version of the Zigbee plugin, before Osram made their changes, I was able to control both brightness and color temperature. Now, I can only control brightness.

Well I am not sure what you have tried. So you will have to let me know if you have already done this.

                        1. Have you tried resetting the bulb and re-include it?
                        2. When you include the bulb is it within 2 ft of the conbee?
                        3. Is the bulb you have a newer version of the bulb? Osram Lightify was the old and I believe sylvania smart+ is the newer.
                        4. You said you were on the latest version, is that 2.0.2.5?

Yes I got both brightness and CT in the UI.

Thank you for this reply! So, I am using the Osram Lightify gateway (not Conbee) with HS Zigbee plugin version 3.0.1.7, along with HS3 Pro Edition 3.0.0.458 (Windows). The bulbs are the Sylvania Smart+ (BR30). I will try resetting the bulbs and re-including them.

Sounds good. Resetting these bulbs can be tricky. I don't know if you found the procedure for this but I will throw it in just in case.
                            1. start with off
                            2. on for 5 sec
                            3. off for 5 sec
repeat this 5 times and on the 6th 'on' just leave it on. It should blink 3 times if it is a white bulb and 3 colors if a color bulb. It takes a few seconds for it to do it.

                              Appreciate that. Thank you.
