You may need to get your hands dirty : https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentat...ed_Use_of_VLC/Else, you could get away with much that you want to using KODI.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I've seen the documentation and have since figured out how to do all that I would want to do via command line and http calls. I was about to start writing my script and stopped to wonder if it's already been done.

Can Kodi cast a local/network MP3 playlist to a Google Home Speaker Group?

I don't know if this is related : https://kodi.onl/chromecast/ but check it out. And there is also the wider topic casting from Node-RED : https://flows.nodered.org/node/node-red-contrib-cast that is if you already use Node-RED and MQTT with HomeSeer. You will have a lot in your hands! Just read all about it. And watch it here :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASsjdbW9KU8

I sometimes cast audio to my Google Home using this free application. It will send the output of your sound card to the selected Google device. Obviously you can use any media player which is controllable from HS. I still use Winamp.....

Thanks for the tips! The Kodi solution seems a bit hacky, casting the entire PC screen to the TV via Chrome plus an extension. I have not yet found a need for Node Red and MQTT. This may be it.

Chromecast-audio-stream looks interesting, however can you enable/disable the casting and select which speaker group to use via HS3? The documentation mentions right-clicking task tray icon to select the target. Additionally, the PC in question is also my media center, so I wouldn't always want the audio to be casting. I would want to be able to initiate and stop casting via HS events.

FYI, I have the Chromecast plugin, but it won't handle casting playlists. It can only cast 1 file at a time. It appears to be a limitation of the Google devices themselves, as they aren't able to consume and manage a playlist file.

            Thanks!
