Somebody reported similar problem before - it was some Firewall issue. But you can try increasing "App Start Timeout" to 10 sec

So I have a weird one trying to get this PlugIn or work. My Google devices are found without issue and if I send something to be spoken on them, it will start it up but nothing is every said. Looking in the logs it seems that HS is trying to use my GATEWAY IP to talk and not my local network. The devices were found on the local network, but I have a VPN system also running on this windows 10 box and it is trying to use that!!!

The IP of my Ling Room Max does show correctly as 192.168.1.75 in the plugin yet as you can see 10.202.0.2 is looking to be used as to what to play when it should be 192.168.1.3. I try the IP it is trying to use in my browser it's won't connect or do anything of course. If I change the IP to that of my local HS and try it in my browser, I does work... http://192.168.1.3:8080/Wave/Cast/GoogleTranslate-1907620877-en.mp3

So the question is...How do I get HS to NOT be on the network of the VPN so it will look to use the ACTUAL local network of 192.168.1.X ???? I mean, it does REACH the Home Max unit, but the max can't seem to do anything after that as it is trying to get to HS. This is not working as it is looking to play something it surely should not even be looking at IP wise!

Hi...No worries, I finely found I can set the IP for HS to use in SETUP ---> LABS and set it to use 192.168.3 and all is well now. But unless you do that, HS can choose ANY network it sees to bind to. So just a headsup.

HS SDK help says

Returns the IP address of your computer as a string like 192.168.1.1. Note that if your computer has multiple network interfaces, this will return
the IP address of each interface separated by a "space" character: 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.2.

So if you want I can add more logging to test if it's the case. If you can't be bothered - it's fine too.

I am set at this point. But thanks for asking. No need to do extra coding seeing there is a work around. I never knew to look under LABS to set an IP. You would think that would be a NETWORK option.

Hi...

I am new to this plugin and really only paid for it to get things to alert me via voice...vs other things it can do like control media. But I seem to have an issue where it will start to talk and then stop. Some things works just fine, others will just crash out when it starts to talk via to two devices. Here is is an example from my log and the error. (read from the bottom up time wise.)

In this case, all I get is "You can now close the black..." and it stops. More or less this is triggered on a timer. When a flush water valve opens, it starts a 3 min timer. After 3 mins, it reminds me to close the tank so it can back fill for one more min before turning off the water. You can see the errors in the log.

Any thoughts would be great as this surely should not happens. It should just speak what I asked it to.

What's your device? Standard Google Home?

It looks like your Cast device doesn't start the media application,

A few things you can try:

1. I wait for 3 seconds by default, but you may try increasing the timeout to 10 sec (see screenshot)

2. The messages seem a bit long, Google Translate has some limitations, you might want to try splitting long messages in smaller chunks. It's actually better to have small first chunk, so if your Cast device takes time to switch/start the application and the first chunk is missing - you still get the rest.

3. Although HS does have "Wait for Speech to Finish" checkbox - it doesn't quite work, so you might add some delay after the speech (i.e. 1-3 sec)

This looks like you click "Apply Settings" button when IP address is empty? BTW - the "Apply Settings" button is only necessary when changing the IP address.

For the rest the settings are applied immediately.
