    Problem with HSTV 3.0

Jeff: I started a new thread because I can't seem to add anything else on the last one:

I don't know what could be going on here. I restarted Homeseer and checke d if I have the latest version of Xmltv and I have the latest 5.50 from November 2007. The error that I noticed is this:

It says that it is putting the xml file into the proper area but if I open up that folder (Listings), there is nothing in there just the hstv icon and the xmltv.dtd file. What would all of a sudden make this happen. The reason why I did not notice this earlier was because I had 10 days of programing in advance and was also on vacation.

The hstv.mdb file was big, I think over a gig, so I did what you said and compacted and repaired it. I also deleted all the old data in it. Still won't put any xml files in Listings folder.

The other error message I get was in the ddmessages.xml file. This was in this file:

    <html><head><title>Apache Tomcat/5.5.17 - Error report</title><style><!--H1 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:22px;} H2 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:16px;} H3 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:14px;} BODY {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:black;background-color:white;} B {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;} P {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;background:white;color:black;font-size:12px;}A {color : black;}A.name {color : black;}HR {color : #525D76;}--></style> </head><body><h1>HTTP Status 401 - </h1><HR size="1" noshade="noshade"><p><b>type</b> Status report</p><p><b>message</b> <u></u></p><p><b>description</b> <u>This request requires HTTP authentication ().</u></p><HR size="1" noshade="noshade"><h3>Apache Tomcat/5.5.17</h3></body></html>

End tag 'body' does not match the start tag 'HR'. Error processing resource 'file:///C:/Program Files/HomeSeer 2/DATA/hstv/...

    Don't know what this means.

I hope you can help. I love this program.

    Thanks,
    Steve

Check your config file and make sure your password is there.

I would also check your subscription at Schedules Direct. Make sure everything is selected correctly there. There was a report of someones lineup disappearing.

      No, that didn't help.

        Update

It was the guide that needed to be reset. Once I did this, I went into the config file and reinserted my password and all of a sudden when I downloaded the xml files appeared in the listings folder. That was weird. If there are any other issues I will let you know.

        Thanks,
        Steve

          Jeff:

I noticed that when Microsoft Access is running with Homeseer you can't compact the database. It says that Access is being used by another use 'Admin' and you don't have permission to compact and repair the database. Is there a way to make an event in Homeseer to do this? I think that was creating one of the problems that I was having which locked up the database and made it over 1 gig.

Also, I got this error when importing data:

1/10/2008 5:32:00 AM ~!~Info~!~Event Trigger "HSTV Import Data"
          1/10/2008 5:32:00 AM ~!~Info~!~Running script statement immediately: &hs.Plugin("HSTV").dataInsert()
1/10/2008 5:32:00 AM ~!~HSTV~!~Error Query: SELECT Distinct channelID, channelname, channelnum, configfile FROM tvImport WHERE channelID NOT In (SELECT channelID FROM tvChannels) ORDER BY channelID
1/10/2008 5:32:00 AM ~!~HSTV~!~Error Select Query: Operation is not allowed when the object is open.
1/10/2008 5:32:00 AM ~!~HSTV~!~Error Import Cleanup: Operation is not allowed when the object is closed.

Why am I getting this. I reran this event at 6:50am and there was no error and the database imported all of the data. According to my status page the 2nd event only took 12 minutes to import the xml data so there should have been enough time to do the 3rd event.

          Any suggestions?

I have tried several ways to get HSTV to do this automatically. Nothing I have tried releases the db quick enough for the compact to work.
Usually when I have db questions I go to the admin where I work, but we don't use Access.
I have to remember to stop HS every so often so I can compact my db as well and would really like to find a way to do it automatically.

I know what the error messages mean, but I don't know why that particular query would have errored.
Do you get this every day? Or was it just that one day?

If it was pre-compacting then I think it is due to the flakiness of Access when its to big.

I have gotten this every day lately. I just reconfigured the database so the maximum size was 214,000 kb. Using Dish network with 10 days of info makes the database big.

                  FYI

What do you mean by reset guide.
I am trying to reinstall hstv and it jumps from step four to step six and then to step eight. I am getting the same error:

Reset guide means that I had to go to Schedules direct and delete my lineup and then reinstall the lineup. After I did this, I went into my tv_grab_dd.conf file and put my password in it. For some reason it got deleted. The next step was to rerun the events and then the xml files started appearing. Are you using Schedules direct or Zap 2 It. Zap 2 it is no longer being used.

                      Hope this helps,
