So, I'd like to take my favorite 10 or so channels that I watch on a regular basis and store what is showing now and what is showing in the next time slot for those channels into virtual devices. How would I go about updating the device status for some created virtual devices with this information?

There should be an event called HSTV Set Device Strings already created when HSTV was installed. Just set it to run every 30 minutes between the hours you want the info updated.
Then go to the channel editor and add in the device code you want for any of the channels you want to be virtual devices.--
