  • Display HomeSeer information screens on Kodi/XBMC connected screen

    Hey guys,

Is anyone using their tv/monitors connected kodi/xbmc box to display information screens from HomeSeer?
    How do you do it?

I thought it would be cool to show cameras, security, occupancy, summary screen, etc. These screens don't really need user input, so a non-touchscreen display would work just fine.

I'd be interested in this also - a type of Summary Dashboard shown on XBMC when nothing is playing, like a screensaver almost.

Infact, maybe thats the best way to code it. As an XBMC Addon that has a XML based custom interface, but all based on screensaver addon code, so its easily triggered by XBMC on its own as well as from HS.

For another addon, i had looked at creating this type of custom interface but failed miserably (im not a coder) also looked at Lower Third type notifications instead of the standard xbmc notification. Again, failed as i lack the technical know how.

That sounds doable. All we need to do is create some web screens in Hs3 (ASP pages?) and use a screensaver that cycles through some web pages...

          Completely forgot this thread existed.
I think we'd need to build this as a native kodi python plugin rather than just making a webpage for kodi to display. Kodi doesnt come with a web-browser for one and there is a better way to do it.

Take a look at either the Extended Info Script or the Next Aired addons - they have their own full screen interfaces. Although the layouts are built into skins as far as im aware.

A good starting point would be to build an addon or service that pulled the data from HS and then designed some nice screens for the new default skin in kodi. If people liked it and used it, it could be relatively easily ported to other skins.

Im not great on the data model for HS as im not really a dev. I presume there is an API that could be used to pull data from?
