I am trying to make an event that will trigger the Pause and Play feature of Kodi. Am I correct in saying
Then XBMC Action
Action type : Input Execute Action
Instance: Whatever Kodi instance is running
Action: play is for play and playpause is to pause?

yep this will probably work
one other way to do this is to use a "Control A Device" native action and use the Play/Pause control of the status device.

I had issues with play and pause for events as you can see from two pics - when setting events it wasn't a user friendly name - I had to figure out the "range", but when event collapsed, it displayed properly - odd bug there...
