HS4 Event when selecting speakers to speak it gives me a pink message

Also When I add a speaker group that I created in Sonos PI I am getting a pink message saying "One or more of your Speaker clients entries was modified to be in Host: instance format and it puts an asteriks at the end of the sonos group that I added. And the event doesn't seem to work. Also, I never see any speakers in the Client List. I am using the Legacy Events when doing this. What am I doing wrong?

pcgirl65 If I remember right you can click on the "Edit Speaker Client List". You should get a popup window. In the text box that says ADD, type in this, substituting your speakers name where it says so, $SONOS$your speaker name here$: there is a colon at the end of the last $, hard to see here. Click on ADD and it should show in the window above. Hit Save (I think) in the window to close it and the speaker should show up under "speaker clients" in your event. Run it to see.

Per above, mine has a speaker as such: $SONOS$Living Room$:

OMG! I didn't put the colon at the end. Thanks! It did run and it spoke but I am still getting the errors in the log and warnings. The errors are in the above post and these are the warnings.

There are a lot of strange errors. Can you post a screen shot of the player table?
Are you participating in Sonos Beta SW program? Which PI SW version and Sonos SW version?

Here is the config. I am using Sonos version 3.1.0.53. I am not in the SW beta program.

Thanks pcgirl65 In the mean time, I found out that most of your errors, reason I hadn't spotted them is because you augmented the UPNP debug level. The PI tries to report real errors with the lowest debug levels and more benign errors only show with enhanced levels. Set your UPNP debug level to errors only and almost all will be gone. They seem to be changes that Sonos made more recently (hence my beta SW question), I have them as well, just didn't realize it.

1/ the "More response parameters than expected with response " is easy to fix, appears Sonos made a change, totally irrelevant to the PI, I took care of it but won't re-release for this.
2/ the "Error in MyUPnPService.UpdateStateVariable for ServiceID" is an error in the Sonos SW. They send an event for a variable they haven't published. The PI doesn't use that variable but it is a violation against UPNP protocol, hence the error, ie benign but I can't fix it.
3/ the "The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error" is a bit more worrying because you seem to have it on a bunch of players. I don't think they are an issue but they could. I think in this case, I suspect that some of the participating players, I suspect where paused/stopped before the announcement, but they were playing something from a virtual queue or premium service. Perhaps Spotify, or content played with external control like Alexa. Let me try with an example: before the announcement started, a participating player had reported to the PI that it is paused and it has content in its queue. It also reports that it was paused say at queue item 4 and trackposition at 75 seconds. Because the announcement will overwrite the queue, the PI saves that state and tries to restore it after the announcement, even if the player was paused or stopped. Up to a year or two ago, it never gave issues, but more recent introduction of externally controlled services, seems to cause issues for these kind of services. Not sure how to fix or suppress these kind of errors from real errors. So was there anything not working on your announcement?

You are right. I did have something playing from Spotify before the announcement. The announcement did seem to work right though. Sonos people always seem to be messing things up. How come none of my speakers show when trying to select speakers in events when setting up speak something?

                because they never were speakerclients....

For us coming from HS1/2 it makes more sense (back then all about speaker proxy versus speaker client), for newer hs customers, sure it doesn't make too much sense. For the HS4 version of the Sonos PI, it most likely will show as a speakerclient OR I do it all through Sonos actions, seem unable to make up my mind because the way a speakerclient is "defined" in HS, it feels like major overkill for what we need, ie. an entry showing up under the speakerclients.
