What version of the plugin are you running? I just downloaded it on my test server and it found all five of my players.

Check your network and/or your firewall settings. The PI makes no distinction between Play:3 or Play:1. I have been using Play:1s since they came out without a problem.

If you run the Sonos controller on the same PC, does it find the Play:1?
Is the Play:1 on the same subnet as the Play:3?
What are the IP addresses of the Play:1 and Play:3?
Is it wired or wireless (and how is the Play:3)?
What OS are you running the PI on?
Are you using VMs on the PC you run the PI on?
I assume you are running the PI on the same PC as HS3?

The players are found by multicasting and therefore can only find players in the same subnet. If you have a router or (managed) switch sitting between the PC running the PI and the player, that device is not allowing Multicast to come through (could also be firewall somewhere !!) and would be your first priority to inspect.
