    I spoke to one of our programmers and here's what he suggested:

    "..One thing I see is that it appears the line:

    If Reader Is Nothing Then

    is wrong because that is the syntax for a VB.NET script, not a VB script. I believe the correct syntax is:

    If Not IsObject(Reader) Then

    He should then also change to using a VB.NET script as it will run faster. The old release of HomeSeer he has may be contributing to the script locking up HomeSeer...."

    I would strongly suggest though that you update HomeSeer - you have an old release.

    Thanks

    Error In Script while trying to use iAutomate RFID.

    Hi everyone. I am new to HomeSeer and for the most part I am great sucess but I have run into a little problem.

    Every once in a while I will get an error that states:

    "Running script, script run or compile error in file: RFID Tag Reader Self-Test 2147467261:Object reference not set to an instance of an object. In line 14. More info: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

    Here is my exact script:
    -------------------------------
    sub main()
    Dim RFID
    Dim Reader
    Dim The_Month
    Dim The_Year
    Dim LogFile
    The_Month = Month(Now)
    The_Year = Year(Now)
    LogFile = "Scrap Log " & The_Month & "." & The_Year & ".ini"
    set RFID = hs.Plugin("iAutomate RFID")
    set Reader = RFID.GetReaderByID(1)
    if Reader is Nothing Then
    hs.WriteLog "Error","Could not find Reader 1"
    end if

    end sub
    ---------------------------

    To get rid of the error I have been able to restart the computer and it works fine for about a week or so and then requires a restart again. This would not be such a big deal except for the the fact that this system is being used in a condition where it needs to be completely maintaince free within achievable limits. This system is used for bin tracking. So what it does is simply record when a bin passes by a certain point and records date and time.

    I am currently using homeseer version 2.0.2041 and i am using an iAutomate RFID R500 reader.

    The reason this error is so critical to fix is that when it occurs it halts all homeseer activity at unexpected times.

    Any help would greatly be appreciated.
