    Run Socket error with Envisalink

    Spud

Any thoughts on what is causing this error, it occurs every time i restart HS4 on a VM . I can get the error to stop by removing power/battery from the DSC alarm panel and restarting the DSC Panel and Envisalink board

Error Receiver:: Run() A Socket error has occurred: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing Connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

Have you tried stopping Envisalink DSC Plugin manually before restarting HS4 ? My guess is that when you restart HS4, Envisalink DSC Plugin does not close the connection and the Evisalink board does not see it lost connectioon so the port stays open.

...... interesting ... I didn't have this issue with a normal laptop only when I moved this to a VM did that start.....

        I will test your suggestion

        Many thanks for the idea.

Also be aware that there has been recent firmware releases for EVL

I would, at a guess, say this is a firmware issue and normally there isn't very quick firmware updates unless there has been defects reported. What is the firmware currently running?

I suggest either raise a Eyes-On support ticket, a hard restart or both DSC Alarm panel and EVL and/or trying some of the suggest test in the other thread

I have just installed the plug-in and am seeing this issue after a power interruption. (The plug-in was working for several hours before the interruption.)
                My board is on v176.

I also saw what looks like a weird interaction with another plug-in, though that could be a fluke.

Note that I disabled the EvisaLink plug-in at 1:18:55.
I also disabled and restarted the BLSpeech plug-in immediately after.
Remarkably, as soon as the BLSpeech plug-in finished initializing, the EnvisaLink plug-in, which was no longer running, "reconnected" and updated device info.
A minute later, when I actually enabled the EvisaLink plug-in, however, it could not connect. ???

                  It didn't go well:

I may have found a clue. I checked to be sure the plug-in stopped when it was disabled. It was still running!
I killed the EnvisaLink plug-in process with Task Manager, then enabled the plug-in again. Working again.
