  • Duplicate Garage Doors Created. (Lots of 'em)

Twice I've come home and found I had an extra couple thousand MyQ Garage Doors. They were being created faster than the screen could refresh. Had to stop the plugin and restart HS to gain control again. I noticed that some of my other plugs had disconnected. Not sure if they were the cause or the effect of MyQ gone wild. All was fine for 5 days and it happened again today.

    Running plugin MyQ vers 1.1.17301.270

Changes since last MyQ update below.

Thanks for all the great info! Let me take a look and I'll get an update out. I already have a suspicion at what's causing the duplicates.

Also, if you haven't already, please click the submit debug button in the settings of the plugin.

Done....and thanks..... hope the extra info helps confirm your suspicions. If means anything... the first time it happened, it was the Saturday following the Sunday backup/restart cycle. This week it was Thursday (after a Saturday backup/restart). Wondering if some kind of accumulation or degradation is sending MyQ into a garage door creating seizure of some kind. The system does become slightly less responsive as the week goes on, but I've never had plugins randomly disconnect or suddenly appear en masse out of thin air. Happy (bug) hunting.

        Thanks,

As I suspected, your plugin is actually losing connection to the HomeSeer server and when it calls the HomeSeer server to see if a device exists it can't find the existing devices so it creates new ones.

I have 2 things I need to fix here.

1: I have to find a way to make the plugin survive intermittent connectivity issues to the HomeSeer server.

2: I have to see if it's my plugin causing the intermittent connectivity. For this I'll load up the same plugins you have listed in my lab machine and try to reproduce the issue within my plugin.

        I'll keep you posted.

I dont have anything to add other than your installed plugin list is outstanding!
I think you should win a prize for that many installed plugins!

Let me know if you need any more info. Odd that it's losing connectivity to the server. The box rarely gets above 25% CPU, and there's always tons of free resources (ram, handles, disk space and IO cycles) There's been nothing interesting in the windows logs. Thanks again for digging into it.

He who dies with the most plug-ins wins.

But he probably died trying to keep them all running. Actually, it's very stable given it's complexity. Sure, It's a busy little box, but CPU coasts at 20-25$ all day long. Anything is possible it you throw enough hardware at it. It also as my primary media server (Plex, Squeezebox, JRiver), and handles my cloud backup. I had to Split BlueIris off to another server a couple of months ago. 32 HD cameras was too much for "the beast" so I had to build "Bride of Beast" to take that over along with some other tasks/services. Now both run along at around 20-25% CPU. Right in the sweet spot.

"Beast" is a Dual 8 Physical Core Xeons with 64 G Ram and 84 TB storage,
"Bride of Beast" is Dual 16 Physical Core Xeons with 256 G Ram and 120 TB storage.

All boot, app, cache, spool and capture drives are SSD or PCIE SSD. Nearline secondary storage is all WD Red drives, or WD Blacks, and tertiary storage is Synology 120TB NAS.

Just to loop you in here. I've made the changes but haven't pushed the new code yet. I'm finishing up a few other features and fixes first then I'll push this new code version.

It appears to be happening after around 2 days of being up. I've resorted to running without the PI running, which is working so far, but I do miss my notifications. Any eta on the fixed release? (just curious). Thanks.

Yes, looking to get the new code pushed out this weekend. It would have been earlier but I was sent out of town for work this past week.

                            Good news and bad news...

Bad News...woke up to wonky system....

Good News no extra Garage Doors.

Normally, I would run Jon00's Device List and confirm that the new devices were all MyQ related....but this time, the system threw an out of memory exception just trying to get the device list.

and two of my plugs had disconnected.

Jon00's PerfMon showed steady rises in Handles, Threads, Virtual Address Space. CPU, System Virtual Memory Available and Physical Memory all remained relatively flat and "normal".

Stopping the MyQ plugin didn't help as it had in the past. A shutdown and restart of Homeseer (not the server) got things back to a normal state.

After Restarting and running the DeviceList, I found no additional garage doors.

Wondering of the MyQ issues are the cause or the effect.

I found a race condition introduced in the new code, I will have an update out soon.
