For those using P3200 panels, we've had some very encouraging results from another user in this thread He's using P3200 and 11D firmware. Not sure of the panel hardware version but perhaps he'll report it later.

Long story short is in March/April 2016 I did significant rework of some of the internals relating to data handling to/from the panel to make this plugin linux compatible. That has had several very beneficial improvements for plugin users on windows as well. Note that it still uses the CTS/RTS hardware handshaking so that hasn't changed but many of the "corrupted data" issues we've seem have been fixed by these changes.

If you still have a P3200 and HS3 and are interested in trying this again I'd suggest the latest public release 3.0.1.9. If you only had a trial license that has expired, please contact the HomeSeer Helpdesk to request an extension.

Did you ever find out if your "older" p3200 would do HA? And if so, what FW version does it require?

I have a p3200 from the late 90s that I'd like to interface with HS but my local NAPCO dealer is a PITA.

Thanks for the reply.

I have already contacted securitystoreusa.com and any and all other companies selling the "V11E" firmware about if it will do HA. The securitystoreuse.com is fairly near the NAPCO facitily on Long Island NY as are many other online security dealers. I would think that some of these security dealer have old NAPCO employees working for them or can get this information?

All I know about "V11E" is that is supports the latest daylight savings time changes from 2007. It is also most likely the last firmware upgrade for the old Gem-P3200 panel. Versions "V20" and above do not work in the old panels.

This document shows the "V11D" software changes including the "HA" version to support Crestron Home Automation (should not be different from HomeSeer):

http://www.napcosecurity.com/images/...I987B_ADDM.pdf

This document shows that "V11E" replaces "V9" "V10" & other "V11" to automatically adjust for daylight savings time.

I have the latest Quickloader as I went to a Quickloader / Home Automation training at the NAPCO facility last month. They only talked about THEIR "NEW" home automation solutions and how to configure the panel in Quickloader to set it up. I was able to get my panel to acept Quickloader programming and found out at NAPCO that my V40 chip will NOT work in my old 3200 board. Also found out that most USB to RS-232 converters do NOT work with the NAPCO panels.

I have made another try at contacting NAPCO and hope I get the answer if "V11E" will work and if not if they can sell me "V11D HA".

Getting info from the tech people at NAPCO is VERY difficult. All they want is to do is sell THEIR latest panels and THEIR home automation solution which requires THEIR automation central service at a cost per month.

Attached is an interesting document I found in my reseach that others may find interesting. It is the NAPCO "GEMINI Home / Building Automation Development Specification". It explains the automation interface of the NAPCO Gemini control panels.

I wish I had answers for you but I don't know if V11E will do automation. I searched for that part # you provided and found what appear to be a couple different P3200 EEPROM upgrades at http://www.securitystoreusa.com for $19 or less. If I were you I'd contact them and see if they have what you're looking for or can they get it.

I was able to find the attached tech note stating that firmware V10 doesn't work with windows Quickloader and the solution is to upgrade to V11E. That still doesn't answer the question if it'll do HA or not.

I also don't know if V11D HA follows the same protocol that GEM-AUTOMATION on that V40C chip does. If you do figure that out it would be good to share here with others.

Does NAPCO 3200 firmware "V11E" do Home Automation?

I am trying to get a very old NAPCO 3200 to do Home Automation. "V10A" is in my very old NAPCO 3200 now and does not do Home Automation. I bought the GEM-AUTOMATION kit and it came with the RS-232 converter & "V40C". "V40C" does not work with this very old panel. There is a "V11D HA" were the "HA" stand for "Home Automation" for the very old NAPCO 3200 boards but I cannot find this chip available anywhere. I do find a "V11E" readily available as NAPCO part# "NAP-SE32001" but do not know if it will do Home Automation. Does anybody here know if "V11E" will work to do Home Automation in a very old NAPCO 3200 panel?

I am willing to trade the "V40C" chip for "V11D HA" or "V11E" (if "V11E" will do Home Automation).

Also note that I have had trouble downloading with Quickloader because of the USB to RS-232 converters I have. I resurected an old XP desktop and Quickloader works with no problem with its "REAL" RS-232 port.

On Page two, it states:
NOTE: Typically, any version GEM-P3200 control panel could be upgraded to the latest firmware by replacing the
EPROM with a newer version. This is no longer the case. The Firmware Version 20 EPROM must only be used in a
Version 18 (or greater) PCBoard. Do NOT attempt to upgrade a GEM-P3200 control panel which currently is running
Firmware Version 11C (or prior) to version 20 (or greater) by replacing the EPROM.
The PCBoard version ( triangle number) is printed on a triangular shaped sticker affixed to the GEM-P3200 circuit board.

The triangle sticker on my board has a "21" printed on it.

Also, a small chip under the Automation chip says "GEM-P3200 090309"

I found the original chip that the board came with and it has a handwritten "V 20A" written on it. I replaced that chip with the "V 20B HA" chip shown in the photo earlier.

To the best of my knowledge all the 9600 boards will be compatible. Earlier in this thread I put a link to a Napco Dealer PDF that shows the increasing functionality with each larger panel. The HA support is clearly shown starting at the 9600 level on that PDF. Here's a link to Napco showing that the 9600 board supports HA.

I've had this v40c since early 2006. I'm don't know what all they fixed from 20b to 40c but I would recommend getting the latest. I also recommend ordering the GEM-RS232 kit as that gives you isolation on the serial line to the panel. That's what I use. Here's that kit at SpyTown.com. I can't tell from their site if they also include the GEM-AUTOMATION eeprom along with the RS232 kit or not. According to the Napco PDF on GEM-RS232 it should include the eeprom.

That's disappointing, but I appreciate your efforts to resolve it.

I'm mulling my options and considering the investment that I have with NAPCO components (15 zones and a panel), I'm leaning on getting the 9600 board.

Are all versions of the 9600 board compatible?

Will my HA v20B EEPROM be compatible with the 9600 board or do I need to get a newer one? I see that you've got a HA v40 chip.

Unfortunately those lines that say "Unable to establish session to panel for version check" indicate that your P3200 isn't responding to commands from the serial port. We've now tried the normal CTS/RTS and alternate hail methods, neither of which has got us past the version check which is the very first step. At this point I can only assume what has been written online about "new" P3200 not supporting the GEM-AUTOMATION is correct. Short of upgrading to a P9600 or trying to find an older v11 P3200 to get the HA support, I'm not sure what you can do to get this talking with HS3. I wish there was a better answer I'm sorry.

I originally rebooted Homeseer, but the Napco messages were intermixed and the filter was not good for getting isolating all the Napco messages. I took that excerpt after I disabled and re-enabled the plugin. This time, I disabled the plugin, restarted and then enabled the plugin to get all the messages together.

I'm not sure why you received those "Warning Attempt by plugin to register a duplicate link" Did you fully stop HS3, then extract this exe and restart? The page registration logic didn't change.

Do you have debug logging turned on. If not, please edit your hspi_napco_gemini.ini and set logLvl=79 and stop/start HS3 again.

I found this link while continuing to search for clues on the P3200 issue, see post 3 from Jeff. It would seem to indicate that board version 21 is considered the "new" batch that no longer supports GEM-AUTOMATION. If true that really stinks.

Attached to this post is an unreleased 3.0.0.4 of the plugin that is hard set to use the alternate protocol bypassing CTS/RTS. I have this somewhat working with my P9600 firmware 40c but I won't use the term "successfully" Without the hardware handshaking it's all up to timing which can be problematic for various reasons.

Extract the exe file in the attached zip into your HomeSeer 3 directory. For example: C:\Program Files (x86)\HomeSeer HS3

Below is an example from my debug log. I'm looking to see if you can get past the initial panel version check commands which in the log below are the lines that look like:

I crafted my original post below with my research seeming to say the P3200 doesn't support automation, however, Napco's own manual for programming for automation is dated 03/13 (2013) and lists P3200 as supported.

On page 5 of their doc shows the RTS/CTS initial handshake method. It also has an alternate handshake not relying on RTS/CTS that it says is supported for P3200 in firmware 40b and above (30b and above on P9600 panel) I'm not sure if your P3200 20b firmware will be able to use this? It's worth a try though since we are having issues with the RTS/CTC handshake and Napco went to the trouble of creating this alternate handshake. My P9600 is 40c so I will try to get this alternate initial handshake working and then post back a debug version. This may take a few days.

I did some more research this morning. I'm getting the sense that Napco did support HA (GEM-AUTOMATION) in older P3200 panels but newer (2004?) P3200 panels stopped supporting HA?? See the third post from 8/2004 by Bass

I looked up the P3200 panel on smarthome where they have a spec sheet and it only lists PCIMINI and quickloader, not HA

I came across this Napco dealer PDF that appears to show increasing functionality added with increasing size panel hardware from 816 to 1632 to 3200 to 9600 to X255.

At the 9600 level, it has the bullet points below. I assume this means the 9600 and X255 has the capability but the smaller panels do not?
Support GEM-Automation alarm-to-pc automation software package interface.
Support Phast Automation Systems with GEM-PHASTPAK Interface
Permits permanent Panel-Port connection to Automation Hubs using GEM-RS232 Interface
