About 8:15PM last night I noticed Google Voice Command failed. The Omni Plugin has failed again. As usual, I restarted the plugin but, this time, that did NOT recover the plugin functionality. I resorted to reboot the Hometroller Zee which did bring everything back.

Unfortunately, the HS log file prior to the reboot was lost (lesson learned). The Omni log via PC Access is uneventful through the time period.

I dont see anything there indicating an error. I am concerned that your OMNI log file doesnt show data until 12 hours later.

      Can you:

Go into OMNI Config, then set the logging to DEBUG
Go into OMNI Logs and click Delete Log
      Restart the plugin
Post the plugin startup log here and let's make sure things are starting up ok.

I just verified debug is on. Noticed this in the log file:

Odd... the Hometroller Zee is ethernet cable directly to the modem/router/gateway (Comcast)

Here is the log following the Delete and Restart Plugin:

HSTouch is alive and well so Zee's internet access is OK. ON/OFF Zwave devices no problem.

Snaplink access to Omni is alive and well, ON/OFF UPB devices no problem.

This is the first time I've seen the Omni panel OFFLINE.

              Sure thing...

The Zee is ethernet directly into the gateway/router/modem - all in one Comcast box.
The Omni goes through a switch that's in the Omni panel. The switch connects the Omni panel amd the Omni dialer back to the gateway/router.
So, I think the Zee has the fastest connection and the panel through the switch/hub a bit slower.

BTW I reconnect by going to my http://site for web control and then tools, then system, restart which takes 5 minutes plus. Is there a more efficient way to reconnect to the Omni???

Going directly to the Homeseer web gui (local lan ip of Homeseer) on your LAN should work much faster via a computer, laptop, smartphone or laptop connected to your home LAN. As mentioned before it is a bit still slow in the beginning of the start of the plugin.

amd the Omni dialer back to the gateway/router

                is this supposed to be?

and the Omni dialer back to the gateway/router

So you have two ethernet connections from the Omni Pro going to the switch:

1 - ethernet port on the panel *
                and
                2 - HAI cellular dialer **

                * is a documented issue with Leviton / Omni panels
** should not be an issue

It is suggested above that you test install an old hub between the OmniPro panel and Comcast switch like this:

OmniPro ==> old hub ==> Comcast combo switch router

Old hubs sometimes had a coaxial port plus ethernet ports and all typically mentioned verbiage on the hub saying it was a "hub".

The issue relating to the ethernet port disconnects can be related to too much network traffic hitting the Omni panel ethernet port causing it to abend (bind - like constipation).

If the combo Comcast box has adjustable ethernet ports (managed) then you can manually set the ethernet port connected to the Omni Panel to 10Mbs 1/2 duplex.

The hub would be like a laxitive to ease the flow of traffic.

That is too funny! I'm going to remember that one!

raprap - I would move your Zee to the same switch as the OMNI is plugged into, or use a hub like Pete recommends. I run my OMNI into an older 10/100 hub before it gets to my Ubiquiti switch.

rmasonjr Pete too funny indeed! I will have to digest all of this...

Zee is right next to the Comcast Gateway, not so easy to move over to the panel/switch. The panel switch and notifier board has been in place for a year or more, ever since the Zee was installed. Seems like it's getting worse, stopped responding twice today. Plugin is down right now but the panel is online. I'm restarting the plugin. ...restarting the plugin did not open up the plugin communication... rebooting the Zee next.

The switch in the Omni panel is an old discontinued 8-port Trendnet switch 10/100/1000mbps X 8 ports.

Reboot is complete and no communication via web interface or HStouch. Getting worse... dear Lord, what has happened?

Yeah, you are having some serious network problems that seem to be isolated to the Zee since that is where the plugin runs.

An easy way to check the NIC port on the OmniPro relating to the rest of your network is to connect to the OP2 panel with PCA anywhere on your network on any computer.

Watch the status of PCA on the bottom of the main GUI. If there are network issues you will see it constantly establishing a connection. Its an on and off thing that is easy to see.

Relating to the Zee...I have never seen a hardware issue relating to the network ports on it other than it flipping back and forth between DHCP and using the wireless built in on it.

Can you SSH to your Zee? Can you post the OS of your Zee. Have you updated it or left it alone?

                          Thanks Pete and rmasonjr
I'm a little light on the acronyms PCA, SSH...
The Omni Panel has been flawless, Snaplink works perfectly from anywhere on or off my wifi e.g. 4G over Verizon. The panel routinely is sending out text messages without a hiccup.

Current version is: HS3 ZEE S2 Edition 3.0.0.435 - I see there is an update but I have not installed it.

Now, here's a little update. I was staring at the Zee web interface and I noticed all the devices on the Home Tab as usual. Then I flipped over to the Omni Config>Units and found many of the units I recently added to now be "OFF".
How can this be, a HS device that was created by the plugin and now it's OFF?
I tried to turn a light on from the Zee Home tab, nothing. It was off in the Omni Config. I turned the Omni Config back to "ON" but it still will not control from the Home Tab.

I guess I need a little education on how the plugin adds HS devices and what happens to the device when the plugin flag gets turned off (not to mention how would the flag get turned off)? Also, it doesn't seem that the device is relinked to the plugin once the flag is returned to ON.

There are now many devices that are orphaned this way. I can't explain how it happened but it's curious that rebooting appeared to bring the plugin back to life but, I didn't test all the devices and now I'm losing more and more of them so the "plugin failing" is more frequent as I exercise other devices. So, rmasonjr can you enlighten me a bit? Some guidance on best way to get these back linked together again?

UPDATE: I'm noticing that these "disconnected/orphaned" devices are among a large group that I recently added and then tried many times to resync with Google Home. Google Home and HS have some issues and it took many tries to get them sync'd up but they eventually did and all was working...for a while anyway.

Column Sconce is definitely orphaned, so you would need to delete that device in HS, then recreate the device with the plugin.

I cant tell from the other devices. You would need to look at the logs.

To be honest, we really need to get the plugin running in your network before worrying about the devices. The lighting control is not going to be reliable until your system is more reliable.

I'm beginning to wonder if there ever was a network problem to begin with. Somehow devices just become orphaned? I'm watching much more closely now that I have a much better idea of what I'm looking for. My network has otherwise been awfully reliable for years and years.

I'm watching much more closely now that I have a much better idea of what I'm looking for. My network has otherwise been awfully reliable for years and years.
A device is orphaned when it is deleted from HS. If you delete it from within the plugin, the device is automatically removed.

I've got tons of users, even myself on a RPi2, and I dont have any of the disconnects you are having. During development, I stop and restart the plugin dozens of times and never have an orphaned device. I honestly believe the disconnect issues you are having is causing the other symptoms you are seeing. Once we get it stable, the plugin runs great.
