  • New Zone in Omnipro II Not Shown as HS3 OMNI Device

I have been using OMNI plug-in for many months -- I love it. Recently, I tried to add a new zone and a new output to my OmniPro II. Both were previously spares. The new output showed up as an HS3 device, and it is working fine. But I am unable to get HS3 OMNI to recognize the new zone. PC Access was used to set up the new input as type Auxiliary, and it correctly reports input status. I have many existing zones and outputs which are working fine. I have tried disable and reenable the OMNI plug-in a couple of times.
    Help, please?

Guessing you are not seeing the Omni Configuration zone toggle to enable the zone eh?

And you have watched the booting debug logs and see no reference to the new zone?

Pete , you are exactly right: I am not seeing any toggles to enable zones for HS3. I do see and use toggles for outputs. The Outputs tab looks like this:

      So the toggles are obvious.

However, the OMNI Zones tab looks like this, so I don't see anything to toggle.

While it's certainly true that I often no longer know how to do things I used to do, I am reasonably convinced that I got my original large set of OmniPro II zones imported to HS3 by the OMNI plug-in entirely automatically -- as opposed to outputs, which have to be selected individually.

Regarding logs: I have (until now, at least) given up on OMNI logs, because the NORMAL OMNI debug option never gave more than a blank window, no matter how long I waited. I've always felt a little intimidated by the DEBUG option. So I tried the DEBUG logging option today, and did get a lot of stuff, including a load reference to the missing zone. But no trace of it on the HS3 Home Screen.

On a hunch, I rebooted HomeSeer itself, and -- voila! I now see (and can use) my missing zone. That was a surprise, because I had expected the OMNI plug-in to update the OP2 device list.

My experience is still: OP2 zone addition to HS3 is fully automatic, unlike OP2 Output devices, which have to be selected. I'm curious how OMNI knows whether a specific zone is in use, or spare, because the spare zones do not show up in the HS3 device list.

Your post was helpful, Pete. Thank you.

P.S. The OMNI plug-in is a fantastic product. I don't know how I'd manage without it.

Zones do not require you to toggle the checkbox. By default, all *named* zones are brought over automatically. Anytime you add a zone, just give it a name (via PC Access or a controller) and restart the plugin and it will be added to HS. Glad you got it sorted out!

Apologies I missed that. Everything here has been running fine such that I do not pay attention much.
