    HAI Plugin Beta - 3.0.1.11

    Just a quickie FYI note.

We had multiple power outages last night and then one long one that lasted an hour.

The OPII panel continued to function fine and the event log recorded the outages. (IE recently added a second battery to the Omnitouch legacy touchscreen hub).

The AC voltage loss alarm did wake us up a few times last night (well early morning).

HAI event log showing the two types of HAI system variables. IE: Loss of Power (instant) and AC power off trouble (after 3 minutes).

26 11/22 1:01 AM LOG Loss of Power
25 11/22 1:01 AM LOG Resumption of Power
24 11/22 1:01 AM LOG Loss of Power

12 11/22 1:54 AM AC POWER OFF TROUBLE CLEARED
11 11/22 1:54 AM LOG Resumption of Power

    UPS status:

11/22/2015 1:00:06 AM BLUPS Info UPS Power mode has changed to On AC Power

11/22/2015 1:02:29 AM BLUPS Info UPS Power mode has changed to On Battery Power

HAI AC trouble variable remained the same from a few days back.

TROUBLE HAI HAI System ac 11/16/2015 9:33:15 AM

Only HAI plugin system variable that changed was the battery voltage today.

Thanks Pete - good info. I'll have a little time off this week to test this out again.

Any possible timeline on flags and thermostats?

My thermostat was out of commission as well as my panel, both due to a faulty AC power supply. Through some generous folks (you know who you both are!) I'm back in business. I wish I could give a firm timeline, but with the holidays, it's going to be tough.

Here's a sneak peek at flag/units from my dev instance. Thermostat development is back on track as well.

            @Rob,

            Good news!!!

After replacing the faulty AC power supply was the issue relating to power stealing off of the HVAC motherboard or did it fix itself?

Did you hook up the two RC-80's?

Here initially just increased the amperage of the fuse on the motherboard; then over time used the secondary HAI relay board with separate power supply. (a bit much to do for a thermostat).

Hey Pete. Yeah its working fine now. I will be running the panel wiring tomorrow morning for the thermostat that has the heat pump. Then I'll have both rc-80 units online.

I got a lot done today wiring up some door sensors to my panel :-)

I am not sure today if your home has a basement or not. LV wiring to the thermostat is a real PITA and a bit time consuming. Baby steps here.

IE: one LV wiring setup in the attached garage here goes to one attic, then another attic then down a chase to the basement on the two story home. It did take a good part of the day to get the wire to the central wiring location. It was very reasonable in cost (just the wire) but very time consuming.

In one home mounted on cement I have added LV wiring (post construction) via the attic which is a PITA. In the other home with the basement I have gone to the basement up or to the attic down.

I wish I could help you with your wiring endeavor Rob.

This morning dealing with a missed paper delivery which really bugs me considering it is 10 AM here and a sunny day and I have been getting the newspaper now for 30 years and only issues with it has been the lackluster delivery service if anything.

Really though wife only reads one or two sections and I only want the paper for the parrot cage these days.

Heh. I know what you mean about the paper. Our delivery is spotty at best. I read mostly online now, but it's hard on the eyes.

My attic has pretty decent access. I just came down for a break as it's getting warm up there now. I just ran several cat5 drops for doors and some cat6 for a poe access point I've been needing.

Yeah I do not watch television news or read the paper here for news these days and mostly utilize the internet because it is fast mostly and I pick and choose what it is I want to read. I do not listen here anymore to local radio in the automobiles preferring these days to listen to the BBC if anything (it is starting to change now though) or my music collection (preferred over streaming music these days).

That said for me it is just that I pay for delivery and the simple function of a paid delivery of a newspaper service doesn't work well these days (over the years it has become worse and I am getting way less in service for my monies). Really though it is a cheap way to replace my Parrot's use of the paper every day.

Relating to door / powered PIRs it is easier at the panel to go with 22/4 or 22/2 guage wire.

Personally I wouldn't go working in the attic if temps are over 80 degrees. Not really worth it. That is me. Maybe doing this at night might be more easier?

In the 1980's had an electrician HV wire bedroom fans at night during the summer. He did four of them in less than 2 hours. (new boxes installed and connected sans any wall switches at the time - later I did install wall switches). I was considering his services for commercial in vivo use at the time and the testing related to not hearing him work (not even a little bit) as my children were sleeping and they never did wake up.

Fast forward to lighting up a dormitory with a 1-4AM window every night until it was done. While I didn't micromanage the work I did check and the work was done very well and quietly. Work involved new HV and LV cabling and APs and redoing wiring closets on every floor of the dormitory. Had the work been done noisy like then it would have dinged the vendor and I probably would not have used them again for other work.

It is cheaper and easier to run. You will see this after 16, 32 or 48 zone runs to your OmniPro panel. CatXX is just too fat to fit inside of the OmniPro panel. Do an experiment; bundle up 16 catXX cables and put them through an opening (any opening) in the HAI can. I did actually start this way here in the early 2000's because I had unlimited boxes of different colors of catXX cable which I had mostly gotten for nothing. I then purchased spools of (1000 feet) of 22/4 and 22/2 and switched over to it.

IE: for the thermostat I did utilize catXX cable many years ago even though I am today only using four of those wires.

Here do have many CatXX cables run going to patch panels. Very simple though and all of them run to patch panels. Started mostly using these for network. I also did utilize them for extending HS serial ports with baluns and today the same runs with POE power up my HS touchscreens and IP cams.

Have a gander at this old document(s) relating to wiring your new home.

It's an oldie but a goodie.

                      Good morning.

Is the useTimeSynch=True supposed to set the time on my HAI unit? if so i'm not sure its working. The HAI time is still like 5 or 6 minutes ahead of my PC time.

Hi madas - you just need to create a HS Event to update your HAI panel's clock - I run mine every morning at 1a:

Here ran event and watched console log to validate function and it works fine.

I am currently running the Plugin on the RPi2 and using a PiFace RTC shim for time (plus NTP server on network).

I have NTP configured to sync both hardware and OS about once an hour.

@Rob is the UTC date/time coming from the panel or is it local to the plugin. It would be nice to get a read in the logs of the panel time before it syncs the time on the panel from the server and see the variance.
