Analog values don't update

I have an analog defined zone. It updates fine within the Elk software if I create a rule that checks every second, and also using the diagnostics. However, in Homeseer the value will only update if I enable the polling feature in the plugin, and even then it only updates about once every minute (and enabling fast loop in the Elk doesn't have any impact either). I thought it might be due to my Elk firmware version, but in the firmware release notes I didn't find anything about analog updates. What can I do to get near instantaneous updates inside of Homeseer for the analog zones, just like I get for the regular zones?

I am not sure if it is the final answer, but reading some other posts around the web, it would seem tha the Elk analog inputs are not really suited for getting fast updates. If there is no known solution and it is by design, then I will have to go back to using some other I/O board for analog.
