  • How can I tell what connection to choose for Vista alarm plugin?

    I have a choice of ttyS0 through ttyS3 or ttyUSB0. But none seem to work. How can I eliminate this dimension of the puzzle?

    Currently the plugin starts and logs this:
    Plugin Vista Alarm has connected. IP:127.0.0.1:45216

    It's likely ttyUSB0, as ttyS0 ... ttyS3 are built-in serial ports, not USB ones. To confirm, with the ad2usb device connected, command "ls -l /dev/ttyUSB0", should return something like
    Code:
    $ ls -l /dev/ttyUSB0
    crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 188, 0 Aug 26 12:31 /dev/ttyUSB0
    Next unplug the device and repeat the command
    Code:
    $ ls -l /dev/ttyUSB0
    ls: cannot access '/dev/ttyUSB0': No such file or directory

      have you tried a general terminal app in linux to test these connections?

        OK. Got the ttyUSB0 to work (I forgot that you had to enable the monitoring, or check the auto-monitor check box). Been a while since I had to set this up...

        Thanks,
