    AD2SERIAL?

I have an AD2Serial that I bought years ago and just never got around to
working with it and my Visa 50P panel. I just upgraded to HS3 and started working with it again. It appears to be communicating with the panel ( confirmed via putty )

Does the plugin work with the serial version of the AD2?
I see the line "Vista Alarm Found the AD2USB on port COM4 running firmware version unknown" in the log file but not sure if
that means it works or not?

I proceeded on the assumption that it would and did the following:

I installed the Vista plugin and the Plug-in status was ok. Then I took a first stab at some basic configuration.
For instance, I setup one partition and one zone/point in that partition and it said that the zone was save ok...

Question: The Settings page for the plugin mentions security code but the help file calls it master code. My installer's documenation lists an
installer code, manager code, and operator code. Which one do I use for the "security code"?

I saved the configuration and navigated to the device Management screen where I saw the newly created standard plug-in devices.
I clicked the disarm button on the only partition I created and things went downhill pretty fast.

It didn't seem to do anything so I tried to navigate to the Plugin manager again but HS seemed to hang.
I stopped HS and ran putty and was able to successfully connect to com4 and see the vista panel messages.
I also tried rebooting the computer but got basically the same results.

I restarted HS and navigated to the Installed plug-ins page and it showed the messages below:
"WARNING: Failed getting interfaceStatus from Vista Alarm - the interface was not found in the list of active interfaces, the list
    may need to be refreshed."

the plugin does support the ad2serial. i would suggest updating the firmware on the device if possible.

you can use any security code that can arm, and disarm the system - try the manager code as a start.

make sure to create partitions within the plugin with appropriate addr and code.

      Mark,
Thanks for the quick reply. I updated the firmware on the AD2Serial. Sean said it was probably too old to work with your plugin. The alarm app from NuTech /AlarmDecoder was also updated and is "seeing" my panel's messages but I am still unable to arm from this app. Once I get that working, I will try the plugin again.

seems like a reasonable approach. typically if you can't control the panel from an app, its related to the address of the nutech devices and config in the panel

just curious, what firmware version did you load?

I am not an Ademco/Honeywell panel programmer but I followed the programming doc (#93 menu driven programming...) and added device 18 ( which is the default address for the AD2SERIAL ) as an Alpha keypad. Still no dice though. The NuTech app is definitely reading fine and I can see it sending data to the panel. Just trying/still waiting to get some guidance/help from AlaramDecoder.

just curious, what firmware version did you load?
I loaded what Sean recommended which was V2_2a_8.

ok. good. I've test with this version. I should have also asked what vista panel model do you have.

                Mark,
I decided to go back into the Vista program and double check the keypad device info. Found that I "fat-fingered" the partition associated with the keypad. I am now able to arm/disarm.
                1) The zones all display and "unknown" status. Is that expected?
                2) I have an RF Expander and and Voice module installed. The RF Expander was used for key fobs I believe and the voice module was used for arming, etc. over the telephone as well as controlling some X-10 devices. Should I tell your plug-in about these? What can I do with these?
                3) In HSTouch on my Android, only Partitions and Partition Chime are listed under Vista Alarm. Is this expected behavior?
                Thanks in advance.

                  Thanks in advance.
                  Glad its starting to work

Q1. The default is Unknown. Try faulting a zone and then clearing it and see if that updates the status. Otherwise Make sure you set the correct Partition on each zone device when you create them. You can edit this info from the HS device Vista Alarm tab. updates the status. Also verify you defined Partition 1 in the plugin

Q2. you don't need to register either. You can register the fob as either a zone (if defined in the panel) or RF device if you just want to capture the RF msgs and use them for triggers.

                    1) The partition for each zone is correctly set to 1. I faulted each zone and the status changed to fault.
When I disarm the system, I see that the last message indicated disarmed as expected but the zones
                    still indicate fault?
                    2) Is there any way to suppress say motion detector alarms while system is not armed?
HS log gets filled with these notifications when I am home and alarm is disarmed.
                    3) In response to Vista commands from HS, the log file always says "Setting Partition 2" but
I am issuing commands on a device in partition 1. The system can be armed as "away" or "stay". I
assume that the "stay" is a different partition but I am not certain. When I cycle through the zones
on the keypad, they all seem to be associated with partition 1.
                    4) I clicked the Bypass button for a zone and it's status changed to bypass. How do I re-arm a bypassed zone?

                      1. once everything is working the zones should clear after the Message Timeout
                      2. use the 'do not log' on the hs device.
                      3. please post a screen shot of the plugin Settings tab and Partition tab
                      4. disarm the system again.

                        1) I understand. What can I do to figure this out? Maybe look for a string to be sent from panel after say closing
a window that was faulted ( using Putty?)
                        2) I found that and did check it. But I still want to see that message if the panel is armed and the device causes an alarm status. Will I still see it then?
                        3) What is the typical method for inserting images. I used snipping tool to create a png and tried to paste it into this doc but it didn't work.
                        4) I can do that from the hard keypad and it doesn't make a difference. HS still reports no change.

in general, i need debugging logs of what the panel is doing and how the plugin is responding.

                          1. please enabled debugging and capture a log snippet
                          2. i don't think you will get a log msgs, but the alarm msg will tell you what zone was tripped.
                          3. you have to attach png images as attachments. use advanced mode when composing the post.
                          4. lets save this issue until everything else is working.

before all this, i need you to test control of the panel via putty: arm disarm, etc. this will very the 'code' you are using works.

                            requested data provided

                            Mark,
I have attached the data requested. I hope this is of some value.
BTW, As I mentioned, the installer created a stay and away "setup". I assume this was accomplished via partitions but I am really not certain. Do you know how I can ask the panel to list the number of programmed partitions?
Thank you so much for your help.

i see the problem with the zone fault/clear issue. I've sent an email to sean at nutech to get some insight.
