    Any Response To This?

UltraJones, any response to this item? Is there a proper support system (ie Helpdesk system) that I should be using instead of posting here?

What type of modem are you using?

The Modem I am using is Conexant External USB modem that looks identical to the Zoom 3095.

It is a USB 56k V90 Voice FAX V.92 Conexant 93010 External MODEM.
Here is the link I used to buy it on eBay:
        Conexant Modem 93010

Should I try some different initialization strings? I have not modified anything in your plug-in and just kept the defaults. It seems to work fine (name and number as well as rings). But it does give me those "errors" on start-up. Maybe I can just ignore them, but I was not sure if I was missing something.

I do not mind buying the Zoom 3095, but if this Modem works (I think it is identical to the Zoom) then people can buy the Modem from eBay for $10.93 total (shipped and all).

Thanks for the response... Let me know what you think.

I bought one to see if I can duplicate the issue.. I'll let you know if we both wasted $10.93.

I did not mean for you to go buy the thing (heck I would have been happy to send you mine). As far as I can tell, it works just fine (at least Caller ID Name and Number + Ring Detection). I have not tested if it detects when a the handset goes on or off hook or if it can drop callers.

I was just surprised that it worked at all with the errors I would get on start-up. Maybe some different initialization strings would fix this.

Anyhow, I VERY much appreciate you doing helping with this. It may be a very inexpensive way for people to get CallerID going. The shipping takes a LONG time (A couple of weeks I think), but at that price, I could not complain.

            Thanks again!

              Here is an update...

Today I bought a phone splitter. So the incoming line from the demark comes in like this

              Code:
-------- Single Cordless Phone Base Station
                        /
                       /
              ---------
                       \
                        \
-------- Conexant USB Modem 93010 (Connected To HomeSeer
The Plug-In shows the errors listed in this thread. But it does seem to register calls and rings.

What I have determined today is that it does NOT register when the cordless phone is on or off hook.

Here is the log of an incoming call (Me calling my home phone from my mobile phone):
8/15/2012 9:54:44 PM UltraCID Info Ring of existing call detected ...
8/15/2012 9:54:38 PM UltraCID Info Ring of existing call detected ...
8/15/2012 9:54:33 PM TTS Speak ():Incoming call from Jeans Mobile Phone
8/15/2012 9:54:33 PM UltraCID Info Incoming call from JEANS MOBILE PHONE (123) 456-7890
8/15/2012 9:54:32 PM UltraCID Info New incoming call detected ...
So I think the only problem I have found so far is that it does not detect the hook status of the phones in the house. Is there anything else it should be able to do?

I received the modem and attached it to my HomeSeer system, then changed the com port and restarted Homeseer. It initialized without errors, reported caller ID properly, executed the drop caller function and properly reports on/off hook notifications. It is a very nice modem for the price.

I have no explanation on why it isn't working on your system.

Could it be the initialization strings? What should I have for the strings? Here is what I have now:

                  Modem Initialization:
                  ATQ0V1E0
                  AT+GMM
                  AT+VCID=1
                  AT+FCLASS=8
                  AT-STE=7

                  Drop Caller:
                  AT+FCLASS=8
                  AT+VLS=5
                  ATH

Also, UltraJones, what does your code look for when it reports the errors I received?

"No response/improper response from modem command"
"Initializing interface: UltraCID->Could not initialize modem caller ID!"

When I try the commands manually I get the responses I listed previously in the thread.

                    What should I try?

I did some testing of my own... The modem is working 100% fine... it responds perfectly to all the commands and in the terminal program shows what is going on from the Modem's perspective.

Here is what I did to test:

                        - Disabled the UltraCID plugin
                        - Connected Terminal Program to COM Port 18
                        - Issued all the same initialization commands that your script does

                        Here is what I got

                        OK
                        AT+VCID=1
                        OK
                        AT+FCLASS=8
                        OK
                        AT-STE=7
                        OK
                        R

                        DATE = 0913
                        TIME = 0024
NMBR = 1234567890 <---- I changed this for the post
NAME = JOHN DOE <---- I changed this for the post
                        R <---- These are Rings
                        R
                        R
PpPpPpPpPpPpPp <---- These seem to be the hook status.. I would pick up the phone then hang up again.

So, what is wrong here? I do not see anything with the modem. Does your plugin look at these return strings?

Please help me use your plugin UltraJones.

Yes, I susspect it may have something to do with how your modem uses the USB port. Hopefully the debug output you send me will help me figure out why it is not working on your system.
