    Way2Call Lite and Panasonic PBX

    Hi,

I have just recieved my way2call lite (after my HS PCI modem got fried) and it works brilliantly staright out of the box in the UK with one phone connected. CID, internal and external answering is spot on and far exceeds performance of the PCI modem.

However, I am struggling with getting it to work fully on my PBX. The Way2Call lite is connected directly to the incoming line and the PBX is then connected to the way2call lite. Exactly as I had the PCI modem for well over a year. The VR works great and CID is recognised but... the way2call lite erronously detects the phone being briefly picked up during incoming rings- normaly on the 3rd or 4th ring. This kills off the CID announcements and the ring count for the answerphone. So having read lots of threads I suspect that the PBX load (RE or REN) is too great for the way2call lite. As if I replace the PBX with a single handset it works.

I bought a REN booster that has a 1 Ren load and can drive up to 8 REN. This unit was put between the Way2call lite and the PBX to buffer the load. Unfortunately the same symptom occurs when ringing in.

So I have a couple of questions, is this just due to differences between UK an US systems, any suggestions what else to try, anyone else had the same problem?

    thanks

    Jon

    Hi

Glad to hear your way2call is working (nearly)....

I to use a PABX - a BT Inspiration and thankfully it works fine in the config you state.

I did however, end up with way2call on its own extension, and use yac/yacseer to pump cid into HSP from a hayes external modem inline iwth the PSTN line.

This way, I get the best of both worlds.....

    Just a thought....

One other thought - you could perhaps borrow a Way2call "heavy" from a UK user.... for a trial...

      Way2call lite warning

After battling with different configurations including a Ringer Equivalence Booster, I have had an email from way2call telling me that the way2call lite is not designed to be used in the configuration that I had used the PCI modem for a year

Does anyone in the UK have a way2call 'heavy' that they use soley as an extension (so dont have all calls routed through) and might consider a swap?

Oh, I wonder who might have that...?!?!?

I will get back to you tonight...

What are they saying is the issue? Are they saying that even without a PABX "in the road" that the line in/out wiring that HS usually needs is not supportedin the Lite?

            Way2Call response

I quote way2calls response to the way I have it configured:

            Hi Jon,

The Hi-Phone Desktop Lite didn't design to work as a Line feed. This product design to work with a telephone line, and the phone jack just for handset audio (It doesn't have integrated SLIC, which simulates the CO line).
In order to work the way you have described, you need to use the Hi-Phone Desktop USB or the Hi-Phone Desktop Pro (New version based on the Desktop Lite technology).

            Best regards,

            Doron

I think this response is fundamentally different from what the Homeseer product comparison says:

              Way2Call lite vs Desk Top

For anyone trying to decide between the way2call lite or Desk Top, I have now tried a way2call Desk Top in the configuration shown above and it works perfectly.
