  • 2241TH Error

I keep getting an error on my log. Can you please tell me what the issue is? It seems to be working ok so don't know why there is an error.

There appear to be 2 sets of errors. The first block with errors like "Insteon~!~Error, an error log" appears to be coming from the Insteon plugin itself.

Please confirm, you are using Mark Sandler's Insteon plugin correct?

The second set of errors from my plugin indicates that it is receiving Insteon messages from a configured thermostat and that those messages are of the extended get/set variety (2E) but that the 2nd byte (data2) is 05 which is one I do not expect/support based on Smarthome's development documentation.

So, a few questions, this is a 2441TH, a wired Smarthome Insteon thermostat correct?

From the Plugins->Insteon Thermostat->Config->Thermostats tab, please reply with the information in the far left Name column. Specifically I'm interested in what is between the square brackets. For example, mine looks like VenstarT1800 [0503,95,2]

Did you configure the thermostat both in Mark's Insteon plugin and in my Insteon Thermostat plugin? If so, you will need to remove it from Mark's Insteon plugin.

      Yes it is wired.

I originally configured with Mark's Insteon plug in and then deleted the device after figuring out I wasn't supposed to.

Sorry, attempted to post screen shot (not sure I know how to do that yet)

So, I've been having ISSUES with my thermostat now... I never heard back in regards to the config page info I sent.... But it also seems to be deleting links, which isn't reporting the thermostat info to HS3... I CAN control it through HS3 but it will not display the proper current temp

August has been extremely busy, sorry for the delay.

[050B,D,2] = SH 2441TH wired with firmware D and protocol 2. This is an expected model/firmware/protocol. It does seem that the linkage between the thermostat and the PLM isn't correct for status updates.

Here are the first steps I would try:

Read the current links as claimed by the 2441TH and PLM. You should get 5-6 links back. Try this, check
            • Insteon Thermostat -> Config -> General -> (checked) Log Debug
            • Insteon Thermostat -> Config -> Thermostats -> Read Links
            • Watch the Homeseer3 log. You should see 5-6 links come back. This may take a few minutes to complete
            • Repeat the Read Links if you don't see 5-6 links reported
            • If you continue to not see 5-6 links reported, try the next option
              • Insteon Thermostat -> Config -> Thermostats -> Write Links
              • Repeat the Read Links options above to confirm

Always wait several minutes in between the read / write links operations and watch the Homeseer3 log to confirm it's complete.

Here's the more extensive steps I would try if those above don't help:
            • Delete this thermostat from the Insteon Thermostat plugin
            • Double check this thermostat is not registered directly with Mark's Insteon plugin and delete it if it is
            • Check Mark's Insteon plugin for any unregistered devices and clean them up (delete) if found
            • Shutdown Homeseer3
            • Perform a Factory Reset on the thermostat
            • Restart Homeseer3
            • Again, check Mark's Insteon plugin for any unregistered devices and clean them up (delete) if found
            • Before adding the thermostat back, wait a while (an hour?) and see if you get any more complaints from either the Insteon plugin or the Insteon Thermostat plugin.
            • Once all is running and quiet, finally add back the thermostat via the Insteon Thermostat plugin. This should create the necessary links in the PLM and Thermostat for both control and status reporting.

One of two sets of troubleshooting above should result in all the links being present and working. You can also retry the read/write links operations after the full factory reset if it's somehow still now fully working at that point.

              Nathan,

Not sure if it is an issue, but I am using the HUB instead of a PLM....

thanks for getting back to me

That's a good question. I don't have a HUB so not sure. You probably want to check Mark's Insteon forum to see if there are any issues specific to the HUB vs PLM. My Insteon Thermostat plugin is dependent on the Insteon plugin and interfacing hardware (PLM, HUB etc.) for sending/receiving everything.

I will have to look at that. I believe the humidity device should not be able to be polled as it's a one-way reporting from thermostat to HS3 as the humidity changes.
