use of $Eventname

I am using a handler that triggers off an eventname if the calendar constains "A:" The event triggered is called "CalEvent." I would like to send the $Eventname as a parameter to the event is that possible? ie HS[RunEvent~CalEvent ~xxx]. That way I could strip the A: from the eventname and use it to announce the event. Thanks
