    The special string tag opening and closing characters are going to change in 1.0.38

    The new format for special string tags will be:

    [devicevalue=B1|update=onchange]

    You will need to update your string values if you are using these tags.

    Good idea about the device updates.
    How about this for string values you want to update on change. This would only apply to device updates though

    [devicevalue=45|update=onchange]

    I have changed the page to look more like this:

    Hi Bob,

    Great idea. My only concern would be additional overhead for regular updates to values that don't change very often. Rather than changing only on pre-configured intervals, how about an option to only change the betabrite when the device value/string changes. I'm basically doing that with scripts now. I'm ok with only using the script commands for this, but I can see the value in having what you are proposing. Would you add another area/web page to the plugin where you can configure the string parameters?

    Thanks
    Al

    String Values

    Here is what will be in the next build regarding strings

    For strings I plan for you to be able to enter in special variables and have the plugin update it every x seconds for you.

    For example:

    You could enter a string 1 value of: [devicevalue=45|update=10]

    I have not finalized the variable format yet but I hope you get the idea.
    This would tell the plugin that string label 1 would be the device value for dev ref: 45 and it would update every 10 seconds

    If you wanted to see string label 1 in a text label, you would just set the label to {callstring=1}

    Here are some examples of string values:

    [devicevalue=45|update=10]
    [devicestring=A10|update=20]
    [devicelastchange=Family Room Lamp|update=10]

    You can use the device ref, device full name, device code, or device address for any of the device variable calls

    The default update will be 30 seconds if you do not specify it.

    Thoughts?
