  • Schedule acting strange

Last night I noticed that after my 8:00 PM schedule trigger had passed that my AC setpoints were wrong. At 8:00 PM it is supposed to set my Cooling setpoint to 70 and my heat setpoint to 67. Below is what showed up in my log at 8PM.

Apr-22 8:00:04 PM Device Control Device: Downstairs Family Room Trane Corp Heating 1 Setpoint Node 21 Child to 72 F (72) by/from: CAPI Control Handler

Apr-22 8:00:05 PM Device Control Device: Downstairs Family Room Trane Corp Cooling 1 Setpoint Node 21 Child to 70 F (70) by/from: CAPI Control Handler

Apr-22 8:00:06 PM Z-Wave Device: Downstairs Family Room Trane Corp Cooling 1 Setpoint Node 21 Child Thermostat Setpoint set to 75 (F)

Any thoughts on what could be causing this? I can post screenshots of my BLStat settings and such if needed.

OK, so this happenned again tonight, except that tonight I did not even see the 8 PM setpoints attempted downstairs and the ones upstairs set 2 different temps within seconds of each other. Very wierd.

Anyone know where the logs for BLstat are so I can dig through those and see if I can figure out what is going on?

Turn on debug logging around the time you see things mess up and see if you can capture it.
Don't forget to turn off debug logging as the log can get quite large
The debug log is called BLStat-Detailed.log and is in your HS root folder

So after turning debug on and off for a couple of days around the times of schedule changes and everything working fine I checked this up to just something in the previous version of hs and zwave.

Alas, tonight, this showed up in my log when the ac did not set properly.

Apr-28 6:00:03 PM Z-Wave Device: Downstairs Family Room Trane Corp Cooling 1 Setpoint Node 21 Child Set to Setpoint 76 (F)
Apr-28 6:00:01 PM Device Control Device: Downstairs Family Room Trane Corp Cooling 1 Setpoint Node 21 Child to 73 F (73) by/from: CAPI Control Handler
Apr-28 6:00:01 PM Device Control Device: Downstairs Family Room Trane Corp Heating 1 Setpoint Node 21 Child to 72 F (72) by/from: CAPI Control Handler

That looks to me like the schedule set the temp on the SATA and then it was reset to the daytime temp and put the stat into a manual position.

        Any thoughts?

So there are some interesting entries in the log that seem to be showing a manual setpoint change, but none are being done. I have no external A/C events and I was sitting in my room near the AC and no one touched it. I have also attached a screenshot of the plugin screen that looks like my stats are showing slightly differently in the plugin.

Yes I am seeing the manual change messages as well. I have yet to nail that one down.
            Cheers,

Ok, is there anything I can do to help? You want me to keep turning my debug logging on and off within a few minutes of my schedule changes to try and capture it?

Glad to know it is not me!

If you can capture the manual change message in a debug log please log a help desk ticket on my site and attach the BLStat-Detailed.log file zipped to the ticket so I can see what is happening. It will help me figure it out

Is there any way to script putting the debug on and off? If that can be done then I will set it up to turn on 1 minute before my schedule changes and 1 minute after. This wierd behavior does not happen every time, but what I have noticed is that it only happens with 1 of my 2 stats. They are both the same type of stat, Trane, and the schedules trigger at the same times. But for some reason the one in my family room sporadically, maybe 3 times a week, sets the schedule and then immediately changes the temp back to what it was previously.

If there is no way to script the debug thing then I will just try and turn it on and off each evening until I catch it.

                      Yep

                      Code:
                      hs.PluginFunction("BLStat", "", "EnableDebugLogging", Nothing)
                      hs.PluginFunction("BLStat", "", "DisableDebugLogging", Nothing)
If you do not capture it the first time just delete the BLStat-Detailed.log before doing the test
                      Cheers,

Perfect, I built an event to enable it 2 minutes before and disable it 2 minutes after. I'll grab the logs each night and the next time the weirdness happens I'll send you the logs.

So when that event triggered it generated this in the logs:

May-14 8:15:14 PM Error Running script(2) &hs.PluginFunction("BLStat", "", "EnableDebugLogging", Nothing), init error: Invalid procedure call or argument: 'hs.PluginFunction'
May-14 8:15:14 PM Event Running script statement immediately: &hs.PluginFunction("BLStat", "", "EnableDebugLogging", Nothing)
May-14 8:15:14 PM Event Event Trigger "Thermostats debug"

Did I screw up my event somehow?

Nope that is HS3. They need to add support for vb.net scripting in the Control panel and the event scripting line scripting.
Create a .vb script for each separate thing and it should work
                            Cheers,

I have still been trying to catch this in the debug logs, but I have not been able to catch it yet. It seems to be sporadic and it also seems like one of the thermostats is working nearly perfectly yet the other one (They are both the same kind) always reads to be in Manual mode.

I have attached a screen shot.
