    Global Variables Available for Speech

I am trying to make an event that uses a variable in the speech that tells me which device has a low battery. I created a group in ET of all the battery devices. The event is as follows but no matter what I try it just speaks the variable and not the device name. I used the example in the ET user guide to create the event. I think it has something to do with the global variable he has in the example. It is HS3. Not sure how to do it in HS4. Thanks

You will have to use the ET Global Variables as replacement variables in your speech text as in the example in the ET guide here. It will only speak the triggering device in the group, even if multiple devices satisfy the rule.

Thank you very much Randy. I saw that and put the THEN part in after Speak like you have but my IF wasn't the same so I will change and try again.

OK, I just tried with the IF as you have it and it still just speaks the variable name and not one of the devices that has a low battery. I am wondering if changes and becomes 1 is wrong. How would 1 correlate to a battery level? Was my IF incorrect or okay?

Also, in the ET guide he had a picture of a Global Variable screen filled out to coincide with his event. Is that needed too?
