    What does "UKNOWN TYPE" mean?

Steve, can you help me understand the UNKNOWN TYPE status for this device? It's been reporting this way for a few months, although the PI seems to be detecting the correct battery level. What does it mean, and how do I clear it?

    Thanks.

It means that it is not set to a monitoring method for some reason so it won't detect its alive or dead status. I'm not sure why it would get into that state but it should be easy to correct.
Being a lock it should probably be monitored by polling. Go to the battery devices config page and check the drop down list of devices that require monitoring by polling. If it is selected then deselect it, exit the config page, re-enter the config page and select it again. If it isn't selected then select it.

Leave it to settle down for a few minutes and check if it then shows the device status correctly.

One other quick question that I keep meaning to ask. What does it mean when discharge rate is >100% per day?

The guide explains this in detail on page 9. Basically the discharge rate you see here is the instantaneous rate measured between two received battery readings. What you will find is that your device will have sent two different battery levels a short time apart. If it sent say 90% and then 85% 30 minutes later the discharge rate would be 5% over 30 minutes which is 240% per day. Unless your device reports accurate battery levels at small changes then the instantaneous discharge rate is relatively useless. By default alerting on discharge rate is turned off and I would suggest you turn it back off. You can also turn off displaying the value if you want. All these things are configurable globally as well as per device.

if you turn on LogToDatabase the pi will log the battery readings and enable you to view the History. You can also turn on the display of average discharge rates which will give you more useful information in the status about the battery discharging over time.
