I get this message on two devices, "Dummy Check".

What is a Dummy Check ?

I have a windows 10 based system running latest HS4.

From memory, without digging back into the code, the status string shows a 'Dummy Check' for devices that are being monitored by Polling or Activity checking the first time they are tested, i.e. when their Status is Waiting. As soon as they are checked successfully a second time, at whatever the polling or activity interval is set to, they should change to show 'Last Good Poll' or 'Last Good Check' as appropriate.

What type of devices are these?
What Status are the monitoring child devices showing?
Have they just been added to SDJ-Health checking?

These are Everspring ST temp/humidity sensors. I have had this problem since I upgraded HS4. At this time they do not update and have a Red Skull.

So these are non-listening Z-Wave devices?
Can you check you log for wake-up messages for the nodes representing these devices.
Were they working ok in SDJ-Health in HS3 before you upgraded to HS4?
Do you have any other non-listening Z-Wave devices that are reporting ok?

Please could you post an extract from you log around a wakeup for one of these devices? Say from 15 seconds before to 30 seconds after.
Also, are there any Error or Warning messages in your log generally if you filter it for SDJ-Health?

What version of SDJ-Health are you running?

I thought you said you had a bunch of Q messages for those devices in the log (msg #5)? I thought that was in answer to my request for you to check your log for wake-up messages?

                1. What version of SDJ-Health are you running?

                2. Check that you have 'Log Poll and Wake-up Messages' checked in 'Plugins>Z-Wave Legacy>CONTROLLER MANAGEMENT'

                3. Can you check your log for wake-up messages for the nodes representing these devices.

It is always best to state an actual version rather than say the latest. There are two reasons for this. One, there might be a fault with the updater or the files in the updater that are showing the wrong version. Two, it is helpful when people are reading the thread in the future to know what version was being discussed.

What exactly do you mean by Q messages?

If there aren't any wake-up messages in the log for these devices then either the devices or the Z-Wave plug-in have an issue. Are the temperature and humidity devices updating in HS? Check the last change times.

If these are ST814s then I had one of these for many years. There were some problems with them with some versions of the Z-Wave pi, although I'm pretty sure that was fixed some time ago. What versions of HS and Z-Wave are you running?

The message about no battery root device found for SDJ-Health is rather worrying. Have you deleted any SDJ-Health devices from the HS web interface?

Steve, I have pretty much given up as I can get the battery health from the device.

This the only way I can get it to work for the two devices. I shut down the app, delete the app and also remove all traces of the app in config file and elsewhere. Unless I do this the devices remain in the device file page.. Works untill two hours later when I receive the skull and bones icon. I tried to trap what happened in the log but find it very difficult.

By the way I install the new Aeotec temp/humidity sensor and the app found it with no problems. I had to remove it and send it back bc I was fairly certain it was used. I had to exclude the device out of the box and battery levels were on 30% with no battery saver attached to the battery.

                          Hi ralnet,

I'm prepared to do my best to help with your problem but troubleshooting is not easy so you need to answer the questions I ask. Please go back through the thread and answer my questions and then we can move forward to try and understand your specific issues.

I am sorry Steve for dropping the ball but I had open heart surgery and had to retreat from solving issues. I will follow up in a day or so. Thanks for your understanding.

                              No problem.
Take your time, there are much more important things in life than Home Automation. I hope you have a speedy and full recovery.
