Still not seeing a Zwave door/window contact after 3 days

So I got this HANK brand door/window contact.... Installed it with zwave no problem, configured and using it no problem.
The only problem with it is that it's a battery device and not being seen at all by the plug-in. I figured 24 hours, but nope still not found.

I have rebooted HS since the install, and even stopped and restarted the plug-in on it's own.... nothing yet.

Any suggestions on what the problem may be?

    Hi RogerL,

I haven't come across this make of device before but I have just looked up the manual for it on the internet. Unusually, by default, the device wake-up is disabled. You will need to manually wake-up the device and then set the wake-up period in HS to what you desire, say 6 hours. When it announces a wake-up to HS, the plug-in will detect it and create a monitoring device.

I've never heard of a non-listening battery device where wake-ups are disabled by default!

ok, it looks just like a bunch of other generic door/windows contacts.... curved edges to look kinda oblong oval when closed. Very reminiscent of HomeSeer's contacts in fact.
I will see if I can do that here shortly. I've been using it a lot over the last three days... so it's been communicating... I was wondering what the deal was. never thought of the wake-up issue.

      Edit to ADD:

So I went in and set the wake up.... it's a drop down, of minutes from 1 to 254.... so I set it for 200 to at least get it started. I may go back in and change it to 240 later.

Quite often you will find the same hardware badged by several manufacturers but usually with their own firmware.

I have several of these devices, there is a defect in their firmware, ie, they will not honor the wake-up command class. The solution is you have to monitor them like any other Z-wave battery device, in the plugin select them under "Devices Requiring Activity Monitoring". Battery levels are only reported when the device activates, ie, the sensor indicates a door open. The problem is if you use one of these for a window that rarely gets open, I use zigbee sensors for these because they are ultra small and report their battery at least once a day, even if they are not activated. I only use the Hank door sensors on closet doors where I want direct Z-wave associations to turn on and off the closet light when the door opens.

            That is useful information, thanks.

Thanks! That helps (I think) cause I thought I had done something wrong cause here it is many hours later and it still has not shown up in the plugin.

              EDIT TO ADD:
Thanks again TC1 I set the monitoring, and just a few minutes later it showed up under the plugin.
I'm actually using it as a toggle switch to let HomeSeer know when the dog is inside or outside the house. So it'll get used several times a day.

The idea is to not have the outside motions and lights reacting when he is outside. So I have it mounted horizontally on the wall by the back door, and the magnet is screwed in with one screw and it pivots. When it's laying flat on the contact, (closed) he's inside, when the magnet is flipped up (open) he's outside.

Same here. I couldn't for the life of me figure it out until I did some deep Google searching, as Steve pointed out, I found out that these devices exist across many brands (I use the Monoprice ones cuz they are cheaper than the equivalent Homeseer ones). I came across some messages that indicated the user reached out to the vendor and was finally told "the firmware is buggy with respect to Z-wave wake-ups and the manufacturer has no intent to fix it."
