Monitor Motion Activity, not Battery for health status?

Many of my devices, especially motion sensors, do not properly report battery or Homeseer doesnt handle it properly - not sure which. But I find that multi-motion sensors will continue to report temps, humidity, lux even if the battery is low - but motion is no longer detected. So, if I monitor the motion child device instead of battery, it will provide a much more accurate reading of when I need to change the batteries.

So... how can I setup the monitoring and status on specific devices to alert me to when HS has not recorded a change in motion for say, 24 or 36 hours?

SteveMSJ would be cool to have an option on each monitored device to say "use child device XYZ for status/alerts. (Ignore Battery level)"

    thx for the help!

I've never experienced, or seen reported, a situation where a multi sensor continues to report temps, humidity, etc but not motion. It would be a lot of work to add this as specific feature.

However, it is already possible to do something similar using the General Devices section of the plug-in. it's a little roundabout but If you monitor the activity of devices this way you can exclude various child devices by listing them in the config ini file. This is covered in section 5.4 of the guide.

The Fibaro sensors send status properly but I have 8 of the older (AAA battery type) Monoprice 4-in-1 sensors - aka Zooz which have this issue of note updating the battery level. Some work fine so not sure if its Homeseer or the sensor -- all of hte sensors are the same hardware and firmware version (bought the same day). I have no way to know if the problem is HS or the hardware.

I agree that many devices are poor at reporting battery level which was the main reason I wrote SDJ-Heath in the first place. It doesn't need battery levels to alert you to devices dieing. The issue you mention in your first post, that I have not seen reported before, is devices stopping reporting motion but carrying on reporting temp and humidity. Which are you referring to in this quote?

the devices continue to report temp, humidity, and LUX when battery is low... motion is not reported. And the battery levels do not report at all most of the time, they usually read 0

You will have to explain in a bit more detail what you are asking for.
What method are you using to monitor these devices?

Did you read the 2nd paragraph of my response in post #2?
