  • Questions about forecast, maps and images

I've setup my system to use Dark Sky as a provider. Both the Forecasts and Maps configuration are set at the default schedules - Forecasts being hourly. When I go in the Users page tab and select the Hourly tab, t states that "Hourly Forecast is not active" and below the message Weather provided by Weather Underground along with their image. When I select Maps it states "No maps have been setup yet". I use both forecasts and Maps as part of my HSTouch screen which display fine.
Is this a remnant of the old WeatherXML or what? I've noticed this for a long time but not mentioned anything.

Q2: I've setup the proper Dark Sky images in the Conditions folder. In there I've got a bunch of other images as well. Is there any harm in cleaning up the Conditions folder and have only the Dark Sky required images. I'm still trying to resolve the warnings I get in my HS log which I seem to be able to create when I click on Run Now in schedules - but not always.
The warning timestamps are all related to the execution on the Forecasts and Maps defined download configuration in Schedules. When I stop the plugin, I don't get any warnings so I'm concluding it's related to WeatherXML.
May-17 8:00:00 AM Warning Image file does not exist, returning blank image: C:\Program Files (x86)\HomeSeer HS3\html\0

Oh and I've setup debug as well to try to see what image is missing.

The Hourly forecast is different from the Forecast schedule.
Right now, there is no hourly forecast data available in the plugin. I am working on adding that from Dark Sky.
When you go to the Users page tab, what you are seeing on the hourly forecast is leftover from previous versions of the plugin. I didn't make any changes to that page yet. To save time I am waiting until the new import is working before I change the hourly forecast page.

The only maps that will display on the weatherXML user pages are the ones setup in the plugin as Map devices. If you click on Support/Documentation, you will get a list of the support documents. There is one labeled Map Devices. If you just want the maps to be usable in HSTouch, then you can use the images that are already non legacy devices.

You can delete any of the images that are not used for DarkSky. Or you can do what I did and made a backup folder and just stored the extra images there. That way if I ever want to change the image I am using, I have a whole collection of ones that I can pick from.
If you do have some map devices, the 0 in the map path is usually an indication that the path is not setup. If you go to the HS device management page and select to view weather maps, you will have a root device. Click to edit it, and then select the weatherXML device. Make sure that the Maps Save To Folder has a value to a directory that actually exists. I think the default is C:\Program Files (x86)\HomeSeer HS3\html\images\weatherXML\maps\
You can either create the default directory or change maps\ to an existing directory.

I'm still trying to figure out why when I run HSTouch on a newer Android tablet (Samsung Tab3 - which is old btw), that I get the image warning when the WeatherXML plugin is active. I escalated this to HS support and they're batting the ball saying it's a WeatherXML issue - likely since I mentioned I don't get any warnings when the plugin is disabled overnight.
So running in HSTouch debug, I can force there error - though, not always by invoking Run/Now in schedules for either Conditions, Forecasts or Maps . Here's my latest warning capture.

Jeff, do you have any idea why this is happening? The conditions folder has only the Darksky images which I checked against your documentation.

Oh - and I have a really old android table running Android 2.3.x running a very old version of the HSTouch client 0.77 which doesn't cause this error.
I'm wondering if it is speed related. I'd like to upgrade my HSTouch client to a bigger/clearer screen but doing so fills the log with a dozen or more warnings a day.

Are you using Map Devices? Go to the HS device management page and select to view the weatherXML weather maps. In the root device, click on the name to edit the device, go to the weatherXML tab. Make sure the directory that is showing for "Maps Save To Folder" exists. The HS error is not very informative. Basically it is appending a 0 (Which represents false) when the directory does not exist.

Thanks Jeff for getting back so fast. The directory where the map is is C:\Program Files (x86)\HomeSeer HS3\html\images\weatherXML\maps

          My config looks like
Click image for larger version Name:	Map.png Views:	0 Size:	79.3 KB ID:	1311154

Again, this only happens on newer faster tablets i.e Samsung Tab3 or TabE. I might get 1 error in 2-3 weeks. Support is saying that it is an issue with WeathXML since I don't get any errors when the plugin is disabled overnight for example. I believe this is as granular as any logging is available. I've also tried WeatherXML logging. I can try to recreate with it if that helps.

Add a back slash after the word maps so the directory is weatherXML\maps\
Also confirm that the directory exists.

The directory exists (HSTouch displays the map fine) and after messing with the current map device, I deleted it and recreated it. WeatherXML changes the \maps\ to /maps/. One thing I also noticed was that I'm getting the warning when the schedule runs. I'll disable all except 1 and see after tonight if the warning persists.

The /maps/ is ok. You must be running on linux so that is correct.

No, I'm running Windows. Despite entering the path with the dos path, after this has been specified, WeatherXML puts the path in UNIX form. This viewed when I go to the device from the main device management page, then select the WeatherXML tab.
Additionally, my Conditions schedule is set to 48 min after the hour and my Daily schedule is set at the hour. This happens frequently throughout the day, but not always.

I don't see anything specific in the attached log however...

My conditions are set to download at 48 minutes after the hour and forecast at 5 minutes after the hour.

EDIT: I created NOAlerts1.xml just because even though I'm not using alerts.
