    Universal RF Remote Control

My dog just ate 3 of my remote controls... Ugh...
I have been planning on getting some sort of RF based remote control to run all of my AV equip with one remote.

The MX-800 looks really cool and not stupidly priced like the pronto. I just can't justify $1000 for a remote control!

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Here's a recent thread on the new Harmony remote that a few liked:

The MX-850 would be a better bet for you than the 800. While they are virtually the same, the 850 has a better thumbpad with a separate SELECT button in the middle.

The new Harmony 880 that's coming out looks like a hot product too, but I am mostly familiar with URC's remotes since I beta test for them.

        Universal Remote update?

Who has them? I'm debating between the mx-800 and the harmony 880(890)

Its not clear to me that the mx800 supports z-wave, any insight?

Who has compared the two (or any others.... mx-850?)? I'm not looking for posts from owners, I know both are good; I'm trying to get comparisons. Any thoughts?

        Thanks!

        Paul

This sound like you already have a universal remote. Try pulling the dog's left ear & see if it will change the channel.

Yeah, but if that works, next thing you know, I'm feeding all my remotes to my dog, then my wife and I are fighting over her. Poor pooch will never get enough sleep, and then PETA will be all over me....now if they made remotes small enough for a cat to eat.........

would be nice to be able to call your remote over to you with a little whilstle and snap of the fingers, though.

I'm not much into the universal remotes. The only universal remote that I use is a Sony & I don't have the model number. It was current about 4 or 5 years ago & has been replaced. But, it has been a good remote for controlling AV / Home Theater components.
