    RC-122 Question...

I am building a new house. I will be installing a two stage gas furnace and a single stage AC (ie. 2/1). The builder will be supplying a Honeywell 2/2 thermostat, but it has the capability to be set to a 2/1. My question is, can the RC-122 do the same thing or is all this even relevant?

If the 122 cannot be set to 2/1 is there ANY HS compatible thermostat out there that can be?

    Thanks

    Gary,
I just finished a house with a similar configuration last week. 2 stage furnace, single stage A/C, 3 zones. I have an RC-122B on each zone. I have not had the stats hooked to HS yet as I do not have the wiring completed, but my HVAC guy said that there will be no problem with the stats and I have been running the AC with no problems.

Alan, thanks for the feedback. I'm very impressed with your HVAC guy. Mine doesn't know anything about communicating thermostats. In fact, when I mentioned to him what I was going to do, he immediately came back with the ol' "if it breaks because of a thermostat problem, it won't be covered by warranty". Unfortunately, he seems to represent the norm rather than the exception, in my rather limited experience.

When you get everything connected let me know how it works out for you. I would be interested to know.

      Thanks
      Gary

        Gary,
My HVAC guy never heard of these types of thermostats, but when I explained that I could only get a two stage heat/cool stat he said it would be no problem using it on a single stage cool system. My guess is if the stat calls for stage 2, nothing is going to happen.

I'll surely share my experience as I gain it.
