If you wish to control a single load remotely you will need to create a link for it. I see you have 10 loads in the Master bedroom. You want to remotely control each of those individually from a central point without Homeseer? That would require a 2 us240s(16 possible outputs). To turn each one on, one at a time is not friendly.
Another way to look at it would be to create several "scenes" utilizing all or part of the list. (Reading, bedtime, TV watching, Romance....) Then one US240 with an 8 button faceplate could control the scenes and all off. The room could jump from one scene to another with just a push of a button.

You say you are using the top rocker 4 button on all switches. I believe that will get very confusing with multiple 4 button units in the room. Keeping track of what button does what.

Have you looked at the sample upstart file I shared last year. almost 100 devices, each room has one top rocker 4 button for scene control and the master bedroom also has an 8 button table top controller.

Email me and I will send you a copy of the file and you can look at it in upstart.

I have several 1-rocker/4-button switches around the house, each with a consistent layout.

the rocker is always used to control the local load of the replaced switch.
the lower left button controls the whole room (whole room on or off)
the lower right is ALL OFF (whole house)
the top two buttons are secondary lights in the same room (if applicable) or adjacent rooms

that way, there's always a simple way to remember what button does what. however, in the end, we rarely use the switches at all since everything is activated by motion

I also planned as you to use a consistent button layout. But since all my switches will have the same face I also ordered the text inlay kit that Simply Automated sells that way I can use my laser printer to document what each button can do over the button itself.

It looks like I may want to gang some lights together, but I may not avoid having tons of links anyhow.

Example, In my master bedroom, I may want to read, or my wife may want to read.. I just have to think through the layout that makes the most sense and also minimzed the number of links.

I am correct in my statement that the HomeSeer plugin can control a specific load without the need for a link?

yes, homeseer can send a device an on code without a link

even with my consistent layout, i also labeled the switches, but I don't think it's necessary to order their text inlay kit. they have (or had when i was doing it) the templates on their website available for download, so i just edited the text, printed them off, and cut them out with a utility knife and mounted them behind the clear plastic cover.... easy as pie.

i also have an 8-button in my master bedroom on my nightstand that can control everything as well. one for my reading light, one for my wife's reading light, one that controls both lights together, one for the overhead light, one for a bedtime scene, and buttons to control various entire rooms around the house.
