    Multiple servers or one

I know we've discussed previously the possibilities of combining multiple applications on one server from an energy saving point of view but am I glad I stuck to one server from HS, one for Geovision, etc...

Our next door neighbour was broken into over Christmas and the Police, noticing I had cameras asked me to review the captures over the dates they believed the break in happened.

I sat through several hours of footage of my neighbours central heating condensation; several spiders building webs; a fox and loads of cats - but no burglar. (I may be interested in the HS2 motion script now Andy! )

However the Police weren't happy with that and wanted to take the Geovision box away to review themselves! Whilst I wasn't particularly happy about that imagine if the same PC also ran HS2! Disaster! I believe if they said they had to have it I would have had no choice(?)!

However I took them through some of the footage myself in the house and managed to get them to trust my review and they no longer want to take it away. At least for the moment - they said they may be back...

As someone that has seized peoples CCTV before, then unfortunately this will happen more and more, gone are the days of walking out with the collection of VHS cassettes - now we have little choice but to actually take the server..unless they have removeable HD's, even then it can be risky so the advice is just to have the PC away.

Whilst I know PACE (which covers the seizure of evidence) does not cover Scotland there has to be a similar act in place and they should not be seizing it if you have reviewed it, and you are willing to provide a short statement saying you checked x,y,z camera between the dates/times and found no persons hanging around or breaking in etc...

And yes if it was a HS server then i'd be in the same boat, no heating, hot water, lighting until I could sort something out...would be a nightmare, I only have one CCTV camera and I don't record that anymore as all it ever showed was the top of my head walking in the door.

      Hi Malcolm

A bit of a bummer for your neighbours, especially at christmas.

I see what you are saying about 1 box versus 2 though. I think if it was me I'd have offered Mr Plod the drive with the CCTV footage on if they really needed it, and got straight on the phone to my lawyer if they wanted the whole machine.
You would think they would show some common sense. A business doesn't have it's entire CCTV/DVR system removed every time a crime is recorded, so I can't see why they would want yours.

The Homeseer to Geovision control script now works perfectly (well for me any way ) so you can have a play with it any time you want.

How many modules did you end up supporting?
