    2gig - zstat

IS the 2GIG worth the $100? I'm looking to replace my antique looking broke thermostat, and want to get one thats Z-wave capable, if there is a better solution let me know. Im looking at getting one.

If you don't have the 5th 24v wire at your location of installation, this is a MUST. Go for it!

I"d like to know on long this would last on batteries alone...

after all the thermostat will have to open/close a heat relay as well as do
some "computing"...not even mentioning z-wave stuff

I had such a thermostat (non zwave) and had to change batteries every month in the winter.

Can you please take you current stat off the wall (don't disco the wires from the stat) and tell me what wires you have?

I will need the color of the wires AND, look at where they plug into the stat and tell us what letters they go to.

For example, 4 wires, red to goes to RC, White goes to W1, etc...

I can help you out. I know more than i should about this stuff... LOL

Most of them are mounted to base plate which is screwed to the wall.

THe round ones tend to SPIN off the plate, the square ones tend to SNAP off the plate.

@Rupp : How long have you have the zstat? Can you comment on reliability over time? did you ever encounter problems..? What about z-wave communication on it? Any problems with that?
by the way, this should be an equivalent (in terms of wiring) of the RCS TZ43 right?
