    UltraMon3 (Network Monitor) For HomeSeer3

    Description

UltraMon3 is a HomeSeer HS3 plug-in that allows you to monitor the status of devices connected to your home network. You can use UltraMon3 to generate alerts when critical network attached devices are no longer reachable on your home network. You can also trigger HomeSeer events whenever a non-monitored device is detected on your home network.

UltraMon3 also supports the ability to send a Wake on LAN (WOL) packet to turn on PC's that support WOL and to shutdown a networked PC using PsShutdown or the UltraMon3 Shutdown Service installed on a Windows PC.

    How It Works
    • UltraMon3 discovers the IP subnet and network mask of the local network and begins to monitor all hosts on the network using ICMP ping.
    • UltraMon3 uses the Domain Name System (DNS) and the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) to determine host information.

    Main Features
    • Provides the ability to monitor the status of the devices on your network using ICMP ping.
    • Discovers all network devices on all networks connected to your HomeSeer computer.
    • An "IP Subnet" web page allowing you to easily create a HomeSeer device for hosts on your network.
    • HomeSeer trigger for non-monitored hosts discovered on monitored subnets.
    • Support alias (HomeSeer device name different than hostname or fully qualified domain name).
    • All pre-defined device types have an associated image (e.g. camera, laptop, iPhone, router, Xbox, etc).
    • Ability to wake up a computer by sending a Wake-on-LAN (WOL) magic packet.
    • Ability to shutdown, reboot, log off, sleep, hibernate local networked computers using PsShutdown (by Windows Sysinternals) or using the UltraMon3 Shutdown windows service (both programs available via separate download).
    • Multiple discovery protocols used to quickly detect when a host joins the network.
    • Device fingerprinting to determine common host types discovered on the network.
    • Error Try/Catch logic to ensure plug-in doesn't fail with an unhandled exception.
    • Multiple threading allows device monitoring to take place without disrupting the performance of HomeSeer. .

    Example Usage
    • Send an e-mail notification whenever a workstation or server is no longer reachable on your home network.
    • Send an e-mail notification whenever a non-monitored host is detected on your home network.
    • Adjust lighting whenever you turn on your smart TV or Blu-ray player.

    Downloads

    Valid Device Statuses:
    • Unknown - Device value of 0
    • OnLine - Device value of 2 (2 or more consecutive ping successes)
    • Recovered - 1 (first ping success)
    • Troubled - Device value of -1 to -5 (1 to 5 consecutive failures)
    • OffLine - Device value of -6 (6 or more consecutive failures)

Is it possible to add the ability to manually add devices like in the HS2 version? I have a few instances where I monitor devices that are not in my local subnet.
                        Thanks!

Has TCP monitoring been removed in UltraMon3? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place but I don't see this as an option in v3

TCP port monitoring and the ability to monitoring anything outside of the local subnet has been removed from UltraMon3. I have not decided if I'll be adding either feature to UltraMon3. I guess I'll see what type of demand there is for those 2 features.

The outside monitoring is how I determine if my internet connection goes down. I have 4 websites being monitored. If all 4 are off line I trigger an event that sets my device "Internet Connection" to off. This controls all my events that need internet access like TV listings download or weather downloads. If even one of the 4 monitors come back online than the internet connection is set to on.
