    wiring for leviton/HAI Omnistat2 rc2000

    guys,
i have two of these and during construction i ran two homeruns back to my server

I'm looking for suggestions on how to terminate the homeruns before the server so i only have to connect one wire to the server

i understand the wiring is a bus system for these stats

With the OPII its three wires utilized and every thermostat has an address. All thermostats connect in parallel to the panel. (bus system).

I am not sure how Homeseer sees the addressed Thermostats.

I installed a separate HAI power supply and solenoid board for mine because the "power stealing" would reset my older RC-80.

I just left it in place and its working fine with the newer Omnistat.

The thermostat and integration into my HAI OPII panel and its feature set are just right for me today.

This itself is a huge WAF factor which I learned about in the early 2000's.

Thanks for the response Pete. However I don't use the HAI panel. I connect directly to my HA server. I bought the following which I think will do the trick. Its a bit overkill but the price is right and I should be able to mount it in my OnQ wiring panel

Understood. I was just referencing the three wires used.

        Very good price.

You could also maybe get a 4 port keystone jack structured media panel bracket for a smaller footprint.

I thought about something like that but then I would have to create the bus wiring myself which I wasn't sure how to do successfully. thoughts?

You could just punch down one side of a little ~ 1.5" - 2" cable; strip the ends of the four cables and solder and heat shrink them. I did utilize cat5e on my Omnistat's connectivity here too in one place and 22/4 in another place. Easier on the eyes was the 22/4 cable.

Unrelated but looking at y HAI expansion can here connects to the main OPII board with just 22/4 cable and the panel for the expansion is a combo of RJ45/4 port little terminals where you can utilize either / or depending on how you connect. (well RJ-45 or 22/4).

I sort of use the same chase from the thermostat(s) except they split.

I also tested the HAI remote temperature sensors that connect directly to the thermostat purchasing a few of them; but not drilling any holes for their placement. They do work just fine such that you can decide where or what temperature your thermostat will work from or use both.

Unrelated to your OP I also was entertaining doing a Zigbee Omnistat test.

I have been told that the serial connectivity remains on these such that you can do either topology of connectivity and have another remote control interface (Zigbee and Omnitouch screens and HSTouchscreens (per plugin stuff).

The whole HVAC thing is a make or break WAF thing relating to automation.

The Omnistat 2 is my second HAI thermostat. It sat in a box for a bit before I connected it.

There was nothing wrong with the RC-80 and it worked fine for many years. I am very hesitant to experiment with any wireless HVAC controller but am willing to play in a non production environment with one.
