    HS3 3.1.2.5 - TTS to players stops

Every few days the TTS will stop playing on the players but still comes out ok on the HS speaker client.

I have had speak proxy debugging enabled since this started, in an attempt to get some logs for you. When the TTS is working ok, in the HS logs are lots of debug each time TTS executes. However, when it gets into this state of not playing TTS on the players, all that is in the log is a line of the format:

Aug-18 20:07:57 TTS Speak (*:*):This is a test message

The players are connected ok. I can issue commands to them e.g. play a playlist, etc and that works ok.

Restarting the plugin fixes the issue.

Do you enable/disable/restart anything else by any chance on the HS3 server? Just wondering if somehow the HS3 speak proxy registration gets broken.

Above the log entry you mention to you mention in the post do you see an entry containing "Entering SpeakIn" (debug mode needs to be enabled); this log entry is added by the plugin when HS3 calls the plugin as part of the speak proxy protocol.

Also search the log and after it last spoke on the LMS player for an entry (debug needs to be enabled) "Entering DisableSpeakProxy" which is added when the speak proxy is disabled (explicitly in the plugin). You can also check in the plugin INI file if the "Enable" entry in the "SpeakProxy" section is set to True or False. If restarting the plugin fixes it, I don't think that it was disabled.

(The ini file has True for SpeakProxy).

This last occurrence I did not actually have any successful TTS to the players since HS3 was started, so cannot check the log for "Entering DisableSpeakproxy" for the last successful run.
But looking back at logs from last 7 days, the only time see Entering DisableSpeakProxy is when HS is shutting down.

This last run, HS3 was started at 11:29 on 17th August. When the first TTS was requested later that evening, no TTS was output on the players.
I have just checked the LMS server logs and could see that at 17:22:36 on 17th August, the LMS server restarted itself.
So in the HS3 logs around that time I have:- see attached.

      Hope this helps
(I'll have to look for a plugin that monitors the HS log for specific text strings. This could have alerted me to the fact the squeezebox plugin had lost contact with LMS).
