Thermostats in HSTouch - under "Climate" bug workaround offered!

    Hello,
I am not sure where to post this, since i have no idea if this is HS3 vs HSTouch problem. I am running both HS2 and HS3 - each on its own hardware. I did not "upgrade" or "migrate" to HS3. I simply remove items, one at a time, from HS2 Z_Troller and add them to the one connected to HS3 machine. Everything, for the most part, is working OK. Just a lot of work. Thermostats, which we control remotely, working nights and having babysitters in house, were left for last.

Tonight I moved the first out of my two RCS T45 stats to HS3. No problem whatsoever: no errors on addition, optimization, etc. Can control it via web interface and BLStat plugin found it just fine. Next, I open HSTouch on my iPhone and connect to HS3. Click on "Climate" in a standard default templa and... nothing happened. So I go to devices, to the room where I placed the stat: everything is there and I can change the temp and see it change on the thermostat.

So... ho do I get it to show up the same way it did in HS2, via HSTouch on iOS, under climate button? I don't recall setting up anything special in HS2, when I bought these stats. I do see under HS2 a tab for z-wave thermostat, but I do not see the same in HS3. So... has something changed and that "Climate" button is now depricated?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Try turning off/on the hstouch plugin. Maybe even update to they latest version if you haven't already.

      Same Problem on Android

I am having a similar problem on the HSTouch Android platform. I am using an RCS CT101. If I remove and re add the thermostat in the Z Troller it will appear under the Climate button the first time I try it. But then it never appears again. I have tried restarting HS_3, Restarting HS Touch and loading a different Client file on the Android device. I see in the HS Touch Client forum that there is a new release in Beta for Android. I was going to wait till it was in the playstore but I may download it today and give it a try.

If that does not work then I guess it is time to open a bugzilla.

FYI I am on HS_3,147 ZWave .187 and HS Touch .55.

Loaded the new Android client. Same result! No Thermostat under Climate. I have already removed and reloaded my Stat 4 times so I am not going to do that again for just one glimpse of it under HS Touch.

OK. I just loaded default iPhone project, without any changes whatsoever. Climate button is still non-functional in HSTouch3 connected to HS3 Pro. I still have one thermostat on HS2, so I can compare. When connected to my HS2 computer, climate button works fine.

            Found a solution!
As a matter of aesthetics, and to minimize confusion for other members of my family, when using HSTouch on an iPhone, I hide root devices from views. That is, in the configuration screen for every root device, I place a checkmark into "Hide device from views" box. This way, devices that do not provide direct control of anything or display any data (i.e. temperature) are not shown under "device Status" screen (floor plan screen) and are not displayed in HSTouch on an iPhone (or any other client, I presume).

Well, it just occurred to me to uncheck that box for a root device "thermostat". Voila! Climate button is functional again! Of course, that also means that I have to tell my wife and my daughter that a device called "Thermostat" does not control the thermostat...

Funny thing is, for door locks, I don't have to do this. I have two Yale locks, which create a root device, in addition to other devices. Root device isn't directly controllable, so no need to show it in client. I have them marked as hidden, yet when I click on "locks," everything works!

                    Rupp,
I did. I also have a Support request on the same topic. I was simply happy to find a workaround. My wife was driving me crazy: "What was the point of your upgrade if nothing works!"

Wow wife has been saying the same and I could not figure out for 2 months(traveling) what was wrong. MyHomeseer and direct connection gave me the same - missing thermostat. I had searched when the problem first occurred and didn't find anything. Just ran across your post!

Hope its gets addressed in bugzilla. Thanks again.

VirtualPanther could you post your bugzilla ticket link here. I couldn't find it. It seems this is a real problem cause I found a few others report something similar.

Well... I can't find it either. After I posted my workaround and marked it as solved, or something like that, I can't find it. It's not under "My Bugs" and search does not find it. Odd.

OK, doing a custom search in bugzilla, which included "resolved" results has finally proved useful:
