    Creating HomeSeer Triggers for IFTTT

Our IFTTT channel is designed to recognize 2 basic triggers: A Device Was Turned On and A Device Was Turned Off. Use the following method to leverage those basic triggers into anything you like. Let's say, for example, you'd like to trigger and IFTTT recipe when HomeSeer detects SUNSET. Here's how to set this up:
    1. Navigate to your HomeSeer system's device mgmt page and add a new device. Name it "Sunset" and assign it to a floor named "IFTTT" and a room named "Status".
    2. Now, create a HomeSeer event that triggers at sunset and changes this new virtual device to "ON". Create another event that changes this device to "OFF" whenever you choose (sunrise, midnight, etc..).
    3. Now, anytime you wish to trigger an IFTTT recipe at sunset, use the trigger of A Device Was Turned On > IFTTT:Status:Sunset.

Will this have to be used with my.homeseer?

IFTTT can be used with any combination of channels; HomeSeer is not required. However, if you decide to use the HomeSeer channel, then yes... you'll need a HomeSeer system for that!

Will this be bi-directional? i.e. will we be able to control HS based on IFTTT triggers?

Absolutely! You'll be able to control HomeSeer devices and launch HomeSeer events based on IFTTT triggers.

No pressure intended... but how close is close and how soon is soon?

The initial coding has been done and we've submitted the work for review. They tell us the process takes 1-2 weeks.

So I hear that MyHS would be needed for IFTTT to trigger events in HS. But for those of us who don't want to use/enable MyHS, will we be able to have HS trigger events in IFTTT?

Getting very excited, the initial system sounds great.

Wondering if you will be able to grab information from the device for an IFTTT trigger, for example with Flickr you have a trigger that says if a new public photo is uploaded then send an email, and you could take the link of the photo and put it in an email.

Is the same possible with IFTTT, for example if the ALARM virtual device becomes ON then email the device string of that virtual device which may have what triggered the alarm?
HS3 PRO, Win10, WeatherXML, HSTouch, Pushover, UltraGCIR, Heaps of Jon00 Plugins, Just sold and about to move so very slim system.

Requires the HS web service? If so, thanks but no thanks.

You'll need MyHS to use our IFTTT channel. They require OAuth2 so we built that into MyHS. If you don't user MyHS, check out SPUD's IFTTT plug-in; that may give you what you need.

No sweat. If you don't want to use a web service, IFTTT is probably not for you anyway!

I don't mind a web service for some things, just want separation of duties/powers within the architecture. This is similar to services offering 3rd party intermediaries. I can do it today with the 3rd party IFTTT plugin.

I for one am so excited about this I can barely contain myself. This lets me start doing real geo fencing and such.

Example: I already have an IF event that sends me a text when I get within a certain distance of my condo reminding me to take Nest out of Away. With this, I will just change that recipe to trigger a Homeseer event to do that. When I leave, the opposite would occur.
