Does Homeseer have a garage plugin

I'm looking to transition from Vera to Homeseer (sick of its instability). Vera has an App (Plugin), where you combine a door sensor and an on/off switch to create a virtual door lock (http://rts-services.com/Vera/Plugin/GarageDoor/). Does HomeSeer have something similar?

What exactly did the virtual door lock do? Did it simply tell you the status of the garage door? If so you can setup events to trigger on the door sensor and from that event you can do various things. Let us know exactly what you want to do and we can help you migrate over to HS's way.

No, it does more than that. You enter into the App (plugin) the device ID of your door sensor and an on/off switch, and it combines those into a virtual door lock that appear on your mobile apps and the web interface as a regular door lock. It's very useful for controlling garage doors and gates. When you unlock one of these virtual door locks, it sends a signal to momentarily turn on and back off the switch, so the gate opens/closes, and then it reads the door sensor status and records it to the virtual door lock. It basically combines all the components from this diagram and combines them into a virutal door lock - http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=153372. Does that make sense? Can I make a virtual device in Homeseer appear as a door lock?

I asked the same thing, looking to accomplish the same thing as well :-)

I didn't get very far, but did receive similar responses. Hopefully this gains some traction.

There is not a plug-in that I have seen for that specific purpose.

As far as making a virtual device look like a door lock, it may be possible, but I don't have any lock devices to see what is different in their setup. Even if I could, I am not sure I would make my garage door control appear as a lock, but that's just me.

I use a virtual device for my garage door, with events to take care of setting the device's status and string and controlling the device that actuates the door opener. If the door is opened or closed, the device will reflect its status. If I use the device manager or the HSTouch default project to control the virtual device, the events take care of the door.

I built all of this using an Arduino as my input output control for a conventional door opener. When i switched to an Craftsman Opener with "Assurelink", I changed everything to use the MyQ plug, in, but left the virtual control in place as redundancy to the Assurelink cloud service. My open/close sensor is now part of the DSC security system, but the opener control is still Arduino.

You can easily DIY your own garage stuff using sensors and output devices.

A HS3 GDO plugin would be sort of difficult depending on specific hardware. Here I have two Liftmaster GDOs and you can retro fit them with cloud / cellular phone Liftmaster applications (which really isn't necessary with Homeseer 3).

Personally I would leave what is attached if you are retrofitting relating to the life and safety features of a garage door.

I have here always mentioned to keep the life and safety built in stuff in place and do not modify it. I say this because you cannot predict every possible scenario with and if then statement. IE: in the 1990's using an if and then statement to trigger events; my wife pulled in to the garage while on a conference call in the vehicle. She left the vehicle running while events triggered the GDO such that the auto mobile continued to run, while she remained on the conference call and the GDO went closing the door.

I utilize all wired sensors to the alarm panel. (both input and output). (IE: 2 wired sensors to each door, CCTV inside and outside facing GD, buried car detectors under driveway, Optex PIRs outside and PIRs inside, RFID on each vehicle). I can open or close the garage door with my cellular phone while concurrently seeing it with CCTV. I do not do this much but the option is there. I do also utilize text to speech inside of the house when the garage door is open plus a bypass button if I am working in the garage with the door open.

a door sensor and an on/off switch to create a virtual lock

Very easy to do with Homeseer as Randy has pointed out above.

Mobile connectivity to Homeseer 3 is plug n play via myhomeseer dot com and IFTTT; nothing unique which enables you to do just about anything with your garage doors stuff.

Write down or draw a picture of what features you would like and and post your drawing and ask here about how you want to do it with Homeseer 3. There is a bunch of flexibility here.

Thanks very much guys. I'll try your suggestions and let you know how it goes. A plugin would have been nice, but as long as there's any kind of solution, I'll be happy. For the most part, I'm just looking for stability, because Vera has been anything but stable lately, and the new VeraPlus so far, is by far the worst product I have ever bought.

I threw in the towel with Vera shortly before the Plus was released. Glad I didn't get duped again by them (former Lite & Edge user)! Sorry that you did!

Fast forward with the imperihome plugin....... if you have a grage door plugin imperihome adds as a door lock both with status of door icon and a unlock and lock button. I have tried to create a virtual door lock but the problems i run into is the status icon changing with the press of the botton to close or open not with the actual door sensor. So its very easy to get out of sync by pressing a button twice or if the door stop or anything. I thought i could try an use polling to adjust but it seems you can't poll a alarm panel sensor for current status short of just making a event run every so many seconds which seems quite messy.

Anyone have any ideas how to make a virtual door lock with with a caddx alarm sensor and a mimolite where the status is kept accurate.

I had the same exact problem, but came up with a fairly good solution. This was my solution - http://board.homeseer.com/showpost.p...3&postcount=24. I basically disable the event, poll the status, and reenable it. Seems to work pretty good.

I just made 4 virtual door locks for 3 garages and a driveway gate this last weekend. I used events to put it all together. Mine looks alot more complicated then yours. Im gonna have to sit down and look them both. I recheck the garage door status in case the door gets stopped halfway. I also have rhe lock changed to unlocked if the door is ever pryed open. I also use the virtual lock to open and close the door.

Yup, this was one of my first challenges, but trust me, try my suggestion above. Once you get it working, it will work EXACTLY the same as Vera's Garage Door plugin.

Hey jumper.. this is way above my head so far. Unfortunately, since i already moved the evolve binary switches over, now my doors don't even work at the main wall switch...

so... can you do me a HUGE favor and help put your events into my names to guide me through one?

Small Garage door (this is the evolve switch)
Small Door Sensor (this is the ecolink tilt sensor)

                              I'll owe you a sixpack!
