    Ra2 Plug-In Question

    Hi
I have tested your plugin, it is awesome, it is the simplest thing ever.
There is one thing that I was not able to make work
The keypad would not show up as a keypad, it would just show up as a device and nothing can be done or programed.
It is not like the image you posted in regards to the keypad.
What do we need to do in order to add the keypad?

Many thanks for the first feedback, just send you a PM so you can send me your XML file to look at it.

      Control from a SeeTouch Keypad

      Hi DonMor,

Thanks for this great plugin. I found Homeseer specifically because of your work on the Ra2 integration which is lacking in many other control platforms. I've only experimented for two days at this point but my question (so far) is whether I can trigger a Homeseer scene from the keypad? I know I can call to the Ra2/devices from Homeseer but wondering if I can map to a key to trigger a scene?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

      Cheers, Matt

        Matt,

Just find that my scene was not configure correctly in HS, will do the modification tonight and also will add the HOLD feature for the PICO, hold can be use with the on/off/favorite in the events. This will even give us more option.

Matt you can trial the ver 1.0.0.30, with this you will be able to trigger and see the status of the scene, also in the events you can use your Pico to control other device of Homeseer.

            Keypad Control

            Thanks Don,

So that sounds like we can't control a Homeseer event from a Lutron (Ra2) Keypad (ie. map a scene to a button on a Lutron SeeTouch). Thank you for that info.

Last questions if you don't mind... If we make changes to an existing Ra2 program (rename a device, change local programming on the Ra2, etc.) or if we rename the devices when they are read into Homeseer (where we have a little more room to work with names, etc.), is there any way to sync the updates? I played around with this a little and I wasn't sure as I made changes on the Ra2 side how to update what was in Homeseer without potentially breaking or duplicating what had already been done or renamed/etc. Just want to get a sense of how things update over time or conversely, how fragile the relationship is. My take is you're reading in the data over telnet and then polling status (so that makes it one-way) but if we change the Ra2, then use the auto-create device feature in the plug-in, how do you handle a device which already exists and may have been modified in Homeseer when the revised data comes back from Ra2?

Thank you again for your insight here.
            Cheers,
            Matt

Matt may be I don't understand but you can activate what ever you want (homesser or lutron) when you trigger a Lutron device with a switch, pico, scene or keypad.

When you scan the new device with homeseer in the config page, if it already exist it will reset all the setting (name, graphic, and status value) except the location1 and location2, and create the new device.

If you remove a Lutron Device in your system you will need to delete manually in Homeseer

Excellent, thanks Don. I'll need to experiment more to make that work and understand the update bit so good to go. Thank you again for your guidance and your development work on this plug-in!

                  Linux install of Ra2

                  Hey Don,

So I received an SEL-PRO today to replace the demo Windows install I was playing around with. Support added the plugin into beta so I could install it. The plugin did read in the Ra2 config, but isn't showing status of devices nor is it updating with any changes I've since made to the Ra2 config (small rename stuff). I've tried disable/enable the plugin but that doesn't force the issue. Should I uninstall and re-install or since HS Support had to make the plugin available, is this a work in progress and should I be sticking to a Windows based solution?

BTW, I did notice that the SeeTouch pads read in a little differently this time showing the various button options which were missing on the Windows side -- that answers all of my earlier confusion around the buttons, thanks!

                  Cheers, Matt

I did not test all the functions with the Linux and in the updater i'm not setup now so my new version can't be in the updater or beta, this is why I post it here, with linux you can transfer the exe and the Lutron image folder, this link can help you for this: http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=162297

For the SeeTouch I'm thinking to do the same thing as for the scene, one button per ligne so we can have the status of that, What do you think?

Thanks Don. Got the new version to install but had to reboot the box as it hung HS when I tried to restart the App only. Shows the correct version in Plugin manager but getting 'CRITICAL: Plugin has disconnected.' with the plugin enabled. Found an INI file but that only had the Ra2 IP info so not sure how to troubleshoot from here to get it to load but guessing there's a dependency somewhere that isn't matching. For anyone else installing this, the 'Lutron' images go into /usr/local/<accountName>/html/images

Please let me know what other digits I might need to kick to get the update to run. Thanks!

                      Cheers,

Matt the Lutron folder image go to /usr/local/HomeSeer/html/images

I'm not able to test the ver. 30 until the end of next week on Linux, let me know if you have more information that can help me.

Thanks Don, appreciate the assist. Here's a link https://file.ac/7Ot9TlvtzRQ/ to a short screen recording that shows the three different status states the plug-in goes through (runs about 2 minutes). I spoke with HS support on Friday as this new SEL-PRO also reports an updater error when looking at plug-ins that are not installed (I suspect this is because the box is Linux based and looks like many of the plug-ins and perhaps the repository itself is more Win-centric.) Everything else seems to work fine but I'm starting to get the sinking feeling that I should be going back to a Windows host if I want the least trouble long-term. Please let me know if you need me to do anything else. I turned on logging, etc. so happy to provide whatever assistance you need. Thanks again!

                          Cheers, Matt

I'll try with Linux next week to find the issue, sorry I don't have the my HS3 Pi S2 at home.

                            With windows everything work Ok?

Fired back up the Windows HS3 and looks like it's not getting the status properly. Showing devices as turned on that are not (and showing devices as turned on that really are on). Running 9.3 on Ra2. Thought the status stuff was working properly but wouldn't swear to it. I'll bounce the Ra2 Controller to see if that makes a difference. Thanks!
