    Philips Pronto TSU9600

Anyone know anything about the Philips Pronto 9600? I need a remote, and URC is too locked down for me, and this thing looks pretty cool.

I have a Pronto TSU9600 which is still in daily use. What would you like to know?

They are obsolete now BTW but can still be purchased on ebay.

Well i don't know. How does it communicate with the base station RF? WIFI? Is it IP? Can it trigger any lighting through Homeseer? What Outputs and Inputs does the base station have? I have a Global Cache that interfaces with Homeseer, can it interface with Global Cache in some way? Why do you say it's Obsolete? URC's software is locked down, other than the Harmony line, I'm not seeing much of a choice in remotes. What would you upgrade to?

It's obsolete in that it is not manufactured or sold any more. Philips decided to drop the Pronto range several years ago.

The remote can emit IR directly or via an optional base unit (using Wifi). You then have 4 channels of IR available.

With the ProntoEdit software, you can design screens as you like. Macros are easy once you have the IR codes loaded.

There is no plugin available for Homeseer to operate the base IR unit directly but I have written software to allow the remote to operate Homeseer events.

I have no intention upgrading at the moment so have not evaluated the market. I also use Global Cache to operate the equipment via Homeseer. Both the Pronto IR and Global Cache IR outputs are routed through Xantec IR distribution so I don't need to double up on emitters.

        Hope that helps.

I'm not familiar with the Xantec, can I get a model? I did a search, but didn't see anything with two inputs and a bank of outputs. So is this a Homeseer Plugin you made? How does it work? This thing can't act as a HSTouch client can it? I'm guessing no considering you had to build a Plugin or something for it. I think I need one of these. I think it looks cool. I mean, u know, remotes need to look cool too. ;-)

I just use a single input 10 output Xantech (79144). You can 'mix' more than one IR source using diodes. It is very simple to do. The model specified also has an input for another IR receiver so you can use normal IR remotes as well.

The plugin allows buttons on the Pronto to operate HS3 events. It has nothing to do with HSTouch. It works by emulating a RFX9600 extender and sending data to one of its RS232 ports. The ASCII string sent by the Pronto will trigger Homeseer events of the same name.

If you have a Global Cache and HSTouch, you have the tools already to make your own remote. Other people will have to advise you on that as I don't use HSTouch.
