    Best IR Device

So I purchased a Global Cache IP2IR device from HomeSeer thinking it would be easy to configure. However my experience has been less than that. It seems like I have to download or learn every code for every device I want to control. I looked at the settings for Square Connect and it seems to have all of the codes as well as the ability to learn codes in the interface. Any thoughts on if I should return the Global Cache device and purchase a Square Connect?
Thanks for the help in advance.

Are you using the Global Cache Pro plugin?

No, but thank you for pointing it out. Still new and didn't look under beta. Any suggestions for using this plugin or is it pretty straight forward?

Goto global cache website and download a file called ihelp. It will find the ip2ir when you plug it into your network. I'd make a static address for it and plug that on to globalcache pro. I've installed a couple dozen ip2ir and ip2cc units and really like the pluggin.
If you run into any problems post back to this message, I've had a lot of experiences with these units.

While the plugin is pretty straight forward, depending on what IR device i.e IR blaster, it only works with port 3. So when you configure your devices, be sure to select the right port in the plugin.

Ok, so I want to use IR blaster to periodically send an "Off" command to a bunch of Fujitsu wallmount a/c units during vacant mode (right now each have individual identical remote and they are identical a/c units), I have about 20 of these units spread across 8000 sqf, 1 story.
Building layout is attached, basically there is an a/c unit in each exterior room.

is the global cache units the right choice? How many global cache units do you think I need?

              thanks.

                I'm running a mono-splitter in ports 1 and 2 controlling 4 TV's with one IP2IR.

Global Cache told me that you can extend the length of the cable up to 25 feet with out experiencing too much signal loss. A standard mono splitter will work in any three of the ports ( 1, 2 or 3), so theoretically you could run 6 A/C units off each IP2IR.

So it would depend on the proximity of the A/C units and having access to them to place an emitter on each one.

The Blaster only works in port 3 and draws twice the current but could control many devices with the same IR commands if they were all in the same room and could see the blaster IR beam.

                Hope this helps.

                  Thank you.
Have you tried the wifi version of IR?

Given that I know where the a/cs are and access, I probably will need 8-10 IP2IRs, is there a limitation on the number of IP2IR units per hs3 plugin?

I've never read about any physical limit. I'm running 3 - IP2IR and 7 - IP2CC all on the same global cache pro plugin. If you're going to install 9 of them check out the POE version, it would save the trouble of getting power to them.

                    Never configured a WF2IR, heard it's a little tricky.

                    Too bad they don't make a ZW2IR or ZW2CC

The only part of the WF2IR that was tricky was getting it on the network.
Once I had it configured on my network, there was no problem.
It's very easy to use with the GCPro plugin.

                          BTW
There has been a minor upgrade to the global cache pro plugin. A minor bug fix if you're running IP2CC units. A check box was added to control log posting.

Thanks for the feedback, can you explain "tricky" ?

I can see that getting both power and network to some of my locations will be a real pain, POE and/or wifi will help a little.

Is there any other reliable devices such as Rometec zxt-120 ? That particular unit seems to have unfavorable reviews about reliability.
