    EgiGeoZone vs Backitude

I just installed everything, finally got EgiGeoZone & Backitude working (thank you Paul & zwolfpack ) with Geofence & Tracking.

What is the experience you guys are having with EgiGeoZone vs Backitude?

Anything you like about one more than the other?

    thx!

I use Backitude for tracking and EgiGeoZone for geofencing. Works fine. I got on to Backitude before EgiGeoZone had tracking and haven't found a reason to switch. It would be a PITA to recreate all of those events. I have yet to try the tracking in EgiGeoZone, but I believe it's not as comprehensive as Backitude?

I only use Backitude. Note that as of now it's not actively developed per say. I've written the developer and finally heard back and well, he started a family and it looking at making it open source as well as add a few features/fixes. I completely understand his situation as I think most of us can. Family trumps all, and the app works 100% for the most part (I have a few issues, but not sure if it's the app or Android).

I actually have no other information, but even as it is, I prefer it to EgiGeoZone. I should note though, that I have no desire to use fences. While I sort of understand their purpose, the need to have pretty big fences (As in, not just my property), I could never find a good use for it for my purposes.

I find that I can use Backitude to tell when I'm close to my house or not and I really don't care to know when I'm close to home. Mainly because we have family that lives with in a block or so, so I don't need my house doing anything thinking I'm coming home, but really I'm at someone else's house.

Currently though, I mainly use Backitude differently than most. I use it to track where we are, not necessarily when we are at home. Since we have little kids which may have babysitters, we can't use the idea that none of our phones are home means the house is empty. Instead, the primary purpose for us is to track me when I have to drive to my office 2 hours away. This way my wife can ask Alexa where I am or even open her phone and see where I am on a map and how long it will be until I am home.
