    Which Global Cache Plugin?

With HS2, it was recommended to use the Ultra GC plug in, which i did with great success.

With HS3, which is the preferred plug in and why? What are the pros and cons of the two? Is one generally preferred over the other?

Trying to decide which to use in my new HS3Pro set up.

    Thanks.

HS Global Cache Pro is a free download for your HS3 Pro system. I've installed it on several systems that I've worked on. It's good with IR commands and relays.

I use the Ultra one. At the time it had better features and the support for it is better.

My only problem is that this is still in beta. ..and seems to occasionally hog CPU resources, so I have to kill the process.

          Thanks for the feedback.

Sounds like it is not conclusive which is better.

HS IR Pro PI - Still in beta and CPU hog; free with my pro

Ultra - better support and better featured, at least initially (and more likely to get new features faster?)

Do they both fully support all GC100 and the various iTach features?

I used the ultra plugin with HS2 as it supported something (I/O input maybe?) that the HS plug in did not.

I'm leaning toward the ultra plugin if it will be the better one. I don't want to dork around and would rather purchase this than use the included plug in and be frustrated.

          Thanks.

The draw back to Ultras is you have to use iLearn to learn all codes and save them to a file and then import them. The new GCPro plugin has the entire GC IR library to "grab" from. I would recommend trying both out as it really only takes a few minutes to find which one you like.

You don't need to learn them for UltraGCIR as you can download them from the same GC IR database and then import them...

The GC Pro pulls them in for you, how do you get them from this same database? Also some of my codes ie mini blind controllers weren't in any database so I had to learn them. It's not hard just requires me to go to the PC closet to learn them as this is where my GC unit is located.

I use GC PRO from HS and have never seen it hog CPU resources. Works great in my opinion and is free with Pro license.

You can download individual files from the GC site. Yes, there are codes that are not there, so in that case you have to learn them. That would be the case with either plugin.

Thanks. Will try the HS plug in. Will be Nice to have the IR lib close at hand.

Sounds like it is much improved since HS2.

I use both and they work great.
The ability to download the codes directly and also modify with the HS version is really nice.

You can run them both at the same time.
One of the nice feathers of the Global Cache modules is that they can share the IP. I can control from the HS plugin, the Ultra Plugin and Simple Control all at the same time.

I was just playing with the HS GC Pro plugin and the test button isn't sending a signal. Any of you guys seeing this issue?

Not the GC100, correct? It only allows one connection at a time? iTach/Flex allow multiple connections I think.
