    Home automation help needed.

Home Automation Video for help but did not find much help.
My first thought is combining all values in a string with a separator char to tell what values to go into the right variable.

    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Welcome to the Homeseer board.

How frequently do you expect to send values? I routinely send messages between devices by serial, but the frequency is low, so I do it with a header - to identify the message, and then the data. I use the header to direct the data to the correct destination.

If you have large amounts of data, then I'd recommend a csv string. (comma separated variables) The receiving device would need to know what data to expect and in what order, then use the separator to break the string into its components and direct them to the proper place. (The separator doesn't have to be a comma, that's just the traditional one.) Visual Basic has built-in tools to make the parsing process fairly easy to do.
