    Fire HD8 problem

I couldn't pass up the price and ordered a Fire 8" tablet. I was able to deploy one of my projects to it without issue, but my screen select buttons don't behave the way I expect.

I have buttons that should display another screen by itself, but instead, they display a blank screen with the default background color. Pressing the Android back button gets to the intended screen.

Has anyone else seen this? What am I missing?

EDIT: After playing with options I discovered that my standard button "on release" action isn't honored by the Fire tablet. If I change the screen switch to occur on button press, which is probably what most people choose intuitively, then it works perfectly. (I started using 'on release' with an old iPod to get more reliable results and have stuck with it since.)

Mike, never seen that before. Did the stock project work at first?

Yes, it appeared to. I didn't play with it much, but I did not notice the odd blank screen.

What do you use to call a new screen on your Android tablets?

Fire tablets are a variant of Android, but modified by Amazon
so they don't always behave like a true android, as you probably know.
I have 3 7" fire tables, which I use as wall mounted controllers
        and HomeSeer information displays.

I use HSMetro as an interface, which is just a interactive web page display, but works very nice, and is flexible and modifiable.
I have added Google Play Store to the fires, and now use Fully Kiosk Browser - it is full screen and I don't have to see address bars, etc, like in other browsers.

I also use Amoled Always on as a screen saver - it times out and displays a clock. Two taps and I am in HSMetro.
I haven't seen a blank page, but sometimes the Fire tablet will still lock and I have to swipe in addition to the taps.

It may just be the Fire Tablets OS.

I have a fire tablet that was handed down to me. I run an app I developed with HSTouch. The app runs fine and I am very pleased. Unfortunately, it is one of the ad supported models so I have to swipe up to open pretty often. But because of location, that's not a problem. Now if I had one on the wall, I would want it to wake up based on motion. That would be cool. I don't really have that use case as of yet. I keep it plugged into the charge cable most all of the time. It sits on a slanted holder made of hickory that I made in the wood shop. Sits on my desk.

BTW, I've also run the same app on my android phone (Note 4) without problems. Also on a iPad and as long as in portrait orientation, it was fine. On an iPhone, unworkable. I recently designed another completely new app destined for the iPhone, and it looks great.

I'm getting the same issue, but only on my Events screen. Very annoying. Using a new Kindle Fire HD 8.
